Thanks George, that confirms why my son only gets a non-HD 525p. This is going to get ugly unless we can find a converter that handles HDCP or a firmware upgrade--which I doubt will happen.

I have an old Marantz VP15-S1 purchased for under $1200. Using DVI cable with HDMI adapters on both ends to Marantz SR8002 receiver connected to PS4. @96" fire hawk screen. Picture 1080p/24 looks awesome for BD. and COD Ghost.

The difference in resolution is definitely appreciated. I have a 119" Draper onyx screen. I'm noticing the games are more immersive because of the clarity and lack of artifacts and aliasing issues on the PS4. I have a Sony HW30 LCOS projector in a light controlled room. This is a good low lag projector that kind of does it all.

If you are looking to go the projection route, you won't want to go back to your tv. Even my 58" plasma seems small when i play my PS3 on it in the living room.

Playing games like COD do take some getting used to though. There is just so much more to take in.

A projector set up is good for split screen gaming too. My wife and i have been playing the new lego marvel game and it is a lot easier to see what is going on when you are splitting a screen 8' wide.

Been gaming on a 110" fixed frame Elite screen with an Epson 8350 for a year and a half now. Its amazing - dont think I could go back to a smaller screen now.

See post #197 in the Ghosts thread.

Been Pj gaming for 5 years now (started off with 720p Marantz PJ and upgraded to 1080p Mitsubishi...on 2nd bulb now). Ghosts on PS4 looks so much nicer at 1080p. Wish I could say the same about the gameplay rolleyes.gif.

HDfury website seems to confirm this.

However I've seen random reports that it does work and it seems to work in your son's case but it won't pass an HD signal. Hopefully this is addressed in a firmware update soon.

We tried a china box that was supposed to be like the Fury 2, hdmi to component, but will not generate an image on the projector in any resolution.

I game consoles in the HT on a 10' wide 2.40 format screen with a Sony VW90. It's a great experience. I still PC game with (2) Dell 27" setup, but I'd love to get some PC MMOs running on the big screen as well.

Sony HW50 on a 130" DIY screen. Great investment, no noticable lag in game mode, good game color, good movie color when in cinema mode. Looking to finish the basement and upgrade to 150" motorized screen by this fall.

"Damn, you can't get black levels like that on your projector!"
- My brother, just before he realized his LED display had died.
