So, It's that time of year. Anyone else getting into the Holiday spirit?

Besides AMC horrorfest, and my own mini horror movie marathon; I love grabbing both new and old Survival Horror / Action Horror / Horror games and filling the month playing them.

This year the plan is to finally crack open Deadspace 2, Popping in Silent Hill 2 from the HD collection (A game I haven’t played in a long, long time), starting SH Downpour, and finishing up the platinum for DeadNation. Probably will cap it off later in the month by setting up the old Gamecube and playing the best Survival Horror game of all time: Shinji Mikami's Resident Evil (Remake).

So, what’s your plan for a Month of Horror Gaming?

I normally do this with movies but never tried games. There are a ton of sci-fi/horror games I have never even touched so maybe I will pick up one or two if I can find them cheap. Have any suggestions for some good games.

Though I'm not a horror buff--movies or games--per se, I planned on playing The Walking Dead on the Vita in the coming weeks. Last October I played Zombie Apocalypse: Never Die Alone and Costume Quest.

In the on-going effort to clear out backlog, I think I'll start up Double Fine's Costume Quest with my young one before the end of the month.

Costume Quest was so not my type of game when I bought it during last year's Halloween sale ($3.75 for DLC bundle), based on the recommendation of one of Sony's social media folk who posts the official PS Blog. But I enjoyed it quite a bit and may fire it up again this Halloween, though I have 100% completion in both the main game and DLC.

Castlevania Lords of Shadow is DAMN FINE.

Dark Souls should require a diaper change or two as well.

Not sure about PC players but Amnesia is white knuckle tension for days.

Dead Space is probably the King of Horror this generation on consoles.

Those games mentioned are great! I gotta throw in Silent Hill too.

Dante's Inferno is overlooked a lot. It's just as fun as that Kratos business.

I have a couple of "horror" games:

InFamous Festival of Blood (which I should finish considering the time of year).

House of the Dead Overkill (definitely a comedy but the vibe is perfect)

I have some games that have some pretty creepy sections, which I might just replay:

In The Darkness, there's a section where Jackie Estacado goes to a version of Hell that gets me every time I've played it. The imagery and the silence combine for max creepiness.

Half Life 2 has the Ravenholm section which still holds up with the occasional scare.

Then I have a few that are just creepy, not really horror but fit the time of year:

The original F.E.A.R. and F.E.A.R. 2 are both full of jump scares and chilling effects.

I agree that Bioshock is creepy enough for Halloween.

The Darkness is really good. Forgot about that one.

Yeah these games are great with all the lights down and the sound turned up!

DS2 is pretty fun and I enjoy all of the scares!
