I heard that you can buy controllers seperately at retail already. I wonder if any retailers have the red ones, those look sweet! I wasn't planning on getting two controllers right away, not before I know which system I'm getting 2K and Madden on.

I definitely want some colored ones this time around.

The black ones are easy to confuse and tend to get lost easier around the home.

As soon as Amazon puts some up for sale, Im ready to buy!

Keep in mind it's not 100% there, I think the button config is a little wacky right now. It also doesn't work wirelessly yet.

Once they get that touchpad working as the mouse though, it's gonna be my primary PC controller...that's the thing that really sets it apart.

Right!

I game primarily on my PC with a DS3 through MotioninJoy. It works really well for me but I still have to jump on the mouse/keyboard from time to time.

If the DS4 works fully wireless, touchpad and all, with legit drivers, ill be a happy man!

How well does it work with the PS3? I hear you can't use it wirelessly. Is that true? And if so, does the PS4 controller use the same recharge cable connection as the PS3 controller, so my existing cables will work. I'm actually considering getting a PS4 controller for my PS3 ahead of getting a PS4 for the sake of the better ergonomics.

Heh, I might have answered your questions today since I was planning to buy a DS4 for my PC (they are popping up at GameStops), However, since there is a chance Amazon will send Launch Edition pre-order folks like myself an extra DS4, I'll hold off until I know for sure.

What makes you say that, and do you mean at some kind of discount for ordering a launch edition?

I called GameStop to ask them if they had any controllers yet, and they did have some of them, but they only had the black ones. The guy on the phone said that he heard they aren't getting the different colored ones until early next year. Why would they create such beautiful controllers and not have them ready for launch? I'm definitely not going to buy an extra black one. I'm already getting one of those in the box, come on Sony, get these puppies out stateside so I can snag one for my NBA 2K14 games against my boys...

Amazon has shipped mine, will be here Tuesday. I ordered an extra DS4 when I pre ordered one of the bundles earlier this year. If you ordered one from Amazon you will probably be getting yours soon as well.

I have to get a second controller right away, because I have two kids that love to play local multiplayer, so any games we get with that capability, they'll be all over them.

That red does look pretty sexy. I wonder if they're going to have purple (blue and silver or white are a given)

Stand tall and shake the heavens...

Sadly, this doesn't sound like it's going to be a useful substitute on the PS3.

Not only does it not support wireless communication, but controller vibration, motion sensing, and the Playstation button don't work. So at the very least you're going to have to keep a second controller hooked up when you need to hit the PS button (Although Share/Options at least does substitute for Start/Select on a PS3 controller). And compatibility is only partial and several major games like Gran Turismo 5 and Grand Theft Auto V don't work with it.

Assuming that issues can't be resolved with a PS3 firmware update, hopefully Sony at least releases a PS3 version of this sans the touch pad since it seems to be a genuine step forward at long last for a Playstation gamepad. I can't imagine anyone eschewing buying a PS4 just because their PS3 could use a similar controller and I'm sure that a lot of PS3 fans would gladly buy a PS4 lookalike.

So it would only be a positive where Sony's business was concerned.

Amazon has shipped my DS4 as well. Oct 30th delivery via USPS. Apparently the street dates didn't apply to controllers.
