I got a PS4 and bought a vita last week specifically for remote play. I have enjoyed it but my hands just don't fit right on the Vita and using the back touchpad is pain right now, I either don't touch it correctly when needed or I accidentally touch it when not meaning too.. At least some of the games adjust the controls to make it easier with the Vita (COD:Ghosts and Need for Speed). I wish NBA2k14 would move the turbo button. I ordered a Vita grip/case from Amazon to try and see if that will help my hands be more comfortable with the setup. That is coming today, so hopefully tonight I'll know.

I am really looking forward to getting comfortable with the controls and I see this expanding my gaming time by a ton since it is hard for me to seclude myself in my projector room for hours when I have a young daughter.

^^^Hope you got the Nyko grip. The Sony one is OK, it helps but isn't great for long sessions.

I bought - CTA Digital PS Vita Hand Grip. Hopefully it will work ok. It was cheap and I can always return it if I don't like it.

This is it:

You should be OK. The Sony grip has nubs rather than handles.

Too bad we can't just split the new DS4 in half and put the vita screen in the middle.

My biggest gripe with those grips are you cant charge and play at the same time. They block the charging port so you would have to go old school to charge and play.

Does the Nyko one let you charge and play? I don't know if my gaming sessions will out last the battery, but if I find that they do and the Nyko let's you charge maybe I will look at that one too.

Seems like on Amazon the Nyko one is $41 but if you can find one at a gamestop it will cost you $20.

Good to know. Thanks. I also checked the Nyko website and they sell it directly for 24.99 plus shipping. I'll see how these CTA ones work and decide after that.

I got the Nyko from Amazon last December for something like 25 bucks and I haven't taken it off since. It has a battery built in roughly equiv to the Vita battery. Together the battery life is LOOONNNG... It's much more comfy than straining to hold the Vita alone.

I told you guys!!! smile.gif The Nyko, for us, it IS A MUST HAVE. Much more comfortable, and double the battery life. If I have any quibble about it, it takes forever to charge.

Charge and play works just fine. Since the Nyko has a battery, it MUST have an exposed charge port.

I got the CTA digital one and used it last night...much more comfortable than without, a night and day difference. But I think I am going to try and get one of the Nyko ones, since it seems to have better value with the extra battery and ability to charge without removing the grip. Seems like a lot of online places are out of stock (or higher priced 3rd parties on Amazon)...I'll have to do some more looking and see what I can find locally or online. Nyko sells them directly for $24.99, so I might go that route too.

Thanks everyone for the feedback on the grips!

I thought I got mine at Amazon, but now I remember I got it at GameStop. I looked for it one day while I was in Los Angeles, and he said nobody around there has them. He asked where I was from, and when I said Dallas, he said the GS stores here would have them since the headquarters is here. I got online and sure enough a store right around the corner from me had it.

$25 direct from Nyko doesn't sound like a bad deal.

I will look into the Nyko grip when I get a PS4 and start using Remote Play. Right now I mostly play my Vita when I'm traveling, and the Nyko grip would make it less portable.

is there a good list somewhere for Second Screen functionality? It seems some Wikipedia pages should pop up, or some other forum sticky, but I haven't found them yet.

1. which games support second screen with the Vita as player 2 in the same game?
2. which games support second screen with the Vita supporting other functionality, like maps etc?
3. which games support the Playstation App on tablets?
4. which games support second screen with other tablet app usage?

For example, for item 4, I didn't know about this until reading it in the official ACIV thread, but there is a dedicated ubisoft app for Assassin's Creed IV. Once installing that app, one can deploy ships on missions independent of same time PS4 game play (i.e. earn coin while at work, un lunch break of course)

I really like Remote Play, but with NBA 2K14, it just doesn't really work right with R2 being on the back touch. I looked in the menus to see if I could change the right trigger to R2 instead of R1, but I can't find it anywhere in the menu to change it.

With Resogun, I was able to change L2 to square and R2 to circle, and I can play Resogun great that way, but trying to play NBA 2K14 sucks, because you can't use the speed burst in any reliable way.

I agree. I wish they allowed universal button config, so even developers don't have to guess what I prefer. I'm still amazed at how awesome NBA 2K14 looks on the Vita with remote play.

It is very cool that's how I pull off playing in bed without the wife getting upset haha. My only complaint is cod ghost is difficult to use bottom touchpad for sprint. Other than that it's a great option!

When the system starts via remote it asks who is using the headset. On the Vita end it just says it cant connect. The only work around I have found is to make sure I unplug the USB. This question does not come up when I use the controller to turn on, but it will come up if I use the power button on the system. If someone is having some issues connecting this could be it. I found that out by leaving my TV on while trying to connect to see what the PS4 was saying. This also doesnt happen if the PS4 is already on.

Aside from that, I love the remote play. Just need to get used to using the touchpad on the back for the extra R/L buttons. Its kind of awkward for me right now. I am going to try it out this morning away from my house to see how the connection is.

Has there ever been an answer to this (e.g., set a default headphone profile, maybe?)? - I hate unplugging my headset every time in case i want to do remote play.

Had the same issue, there's no workaround I know of.
