Tomb Raider on this (next) gen is one the best gaming experiences possible out there today. The game requires quite a bit of dedication and time to truly appreciate. HUGE Thanks to the awesome kick ass Crystal Dynamics team for creating a meaningful and rewarding single player experience which is quite hard to find these days.

I am loving this game so far. However right now I am stuck in shanty town trying to get past the band of baddies you run into after the helicopter/lighter part.

That fight may be the hardest in the game. The key is to move between cover and watch the path to the right. Avoid letting them make it up to your level and make use of the explosive barrels.

No amount of skill will make that fight easy, multiple waves spawn in and they are aggressive.

get over to the left where there is cover and just start capping them as fast as you can. watch that right side where they will try to come up after you and watch out for the Molotov's. i only used the fire arrow to ignite that puddle right down in front. after that its all machine gun then pistol.

Yep, you stay still for more than a few seconds and a molotov is coming, you have to keep mobile. The fight by the tomb in the area is also tricky, use the machine gun without restraint on that one.

I finally got around to testing the game post patch. The framerate issues I was having in Shanty Town are greatly improved.

I forgot how good this game looked, coming off of the Final Fantasy XIV beta (which could pass for a high res PS2 title) for this test really makes me wish next gen would kick into full swing already...

Yeah, it's a great game. I just went from it to Thief.....Theif is bad. Not just frame rate and textures, but gameplay is bad too. I guess I got spoiled from TR.

Max out your melee attacks. Comes in real handy when they start dropping in and getting in close. Pick axe to the head for everyone!!

In Shantytown, there is a spot on the stairs just to the right of the starting point where Lara will crouch down and no one can see her. I blew up the first wave then found that spot and then just picked them off one by one as they made their way towards me.

Just a heads up to anyone still on the fence about this game... it is currently on sale for $30 on the PS Store, it is a flash sale so the sale ends tomorrow.

I dunno, I never had a problem there. It is the hardest section in the game, but not so bad. TR was easy overall, even in the hard mode. Most of my mistakes are when I'm trying to pull off flashy kills, like shooting their legs and doing finishers.

This might have been the best all round game I have ever played. I loved every minute of it. Finished the other night but only had 76%. The last section was a good finale. Hope everyone enjoys this as much as I did.

This game is in my top 5 all time. Kind of like an R rated Uncharted. Played through it twice last year on the PS3. Would love to revisit on the PS4 but will wait until it is really cheap or, better yet, free on PS Plus. Glad you like it.

I've had this sittin' on my shelf forever. I started it back in the day, but got distracted and never got back to it.

I thought I'd try and get through it over the next 10 days or so so I could trade it in for the Nov 18 bounty.

Holy crap this game is amazing. If the games coming out Nov 18 are this good, I'll be a very happy man. I'm really enjoying this. Incredible graphics, awesome music, excellent gunplay, fine platforming, cool story... I don't have any issues with it. Just terrific. Later in the game (I'm about 75% through) she really gets powerful with her upgraded weapons and moves, it's a blast.

"Where's the Imp???" "SHUTUP!!"

Yeah this to me is the best Tomb Raider, and one of the best single player games for any platform in years. Good old fashioned single player with excellent story, acting, graphics, action...what else can I say?

Well said!! Just finished last night, and I loved it! I haven't decided if it's in my All-Time Top 10 yet, but even if it's not, it's *very* close. For all the reasons you stated, just a real gem. I would add near flawless control and gunplay to your list. I don't know if I ever remember getting frustrated at the controls once in this game. A true photo mode would have been awesome.
