wow, didn't expect the leaks/rumors to come so soon.. assuming everyone basing TF won't be getting it on ps4?
http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/03/20/report-titanfall-2-wont-be-an-xbox-exclusive

Unlike the recently released Titanfall, the game's unannounced sequel will not be exclusive to Microsoft consoles, according to a report.

Sources speaking with Polygon revealed the information while reaffirming yesterday's news that EA has secured the publishing rights for Titanfall 2, although the company has yet to confirm any of this.

"We do not comment on rumor or speculation," an EA representative told IGN when asked about a report that it would publish the sequel to Titanfall. "Right now all our focus is on supporting all the fans worldwide enjoying Titanfall."

I'm curious how its selling. Can't be great otherwise we would have heard it screamed from mountains and since were getting these rumors already I'm guessing its not as hot as hype would have suggested. The biggest question is how well this game stays relevant. Its fresh and new now but what about a month down the road when other games ship and this gets forgotten? Tack on another couple years to make another and the sequel may not matter. Then again, if nothing better comes along for the xbone it may last a while. Lastly its EA who can fk up any good thing...

I thought EA had already predicted they would have over six million Titanfall units sold this year?

I don't think anyone announced sales expectations for Titanfall.

It must have been someone else then that made the prediction. I thought it was EA but I guess it was some analyst.

EDIT:
Yes here it is. It was some Analyst

http://www.craveonline.com/gaming/articles/659487-titanfall-sales-forecast-to-break-6-million-units-by-end-of-2014

Quote:
Titanfall Sales Forecast to Break 6 Million Units By End of 2014
This titan is expected to top the charts.

March 13th, 2014 Jonathan Leack

Titanfall is the hot new product of the gaming industry right now. It isn't surprising that it's expected to perform admirably on the charts.

Estimates by Robert W. Baird & Co. analyst Colin Sebastian place Titanfall at 2.4 million units shipped by the end of the fiscal year, and 6 million by the end of December 2014.

For EA, Titanfall is a huge opportunity it doesn't want to squander. It's the company's first new IP to start the new generation of consoles, and has captured the attention of gamers with its progressive game mechanics. Its ability to permeate the market defines whether or not it'll be a flagship IP heading forward.

March 2014 has several other blockbusters, though. Blizzard's Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls is just around the corner, and Dark Souls 2 launched to even more positive critical reception. Also, inFamous: Second Son pre-orders have bested the impressive numbers The Last of Us achieved last year. It could outsell Titanfall despite being available on only one platform.

But ultimately how other games fare isn't what matters, it's what the world of Titanfall looks like one, two, or even six months down the road. It was hailed as a Call of Duty killer. We won't know until later this year whether or not it is one.

And that's the thing. TF is hyped as both a console mover and COD killer which is a lot to live up to. They just mention shipped which is easy to ship a lot.

I agree with Nex. I dont think sales numbers are as expected. When COD Ghosts was shipped, Activ was claiming $1 billion in sales, in an attempt to keep relevance with GTA 5 launch. It was noted that Activision's numbers were sold to retail, not thru to customers. EA wouldn't miss a chance to boast. Probably 1.5-2mil units across x1 & pc? If less that's shocking and pretty troublesome.

All we have heard is "hundreds of thousands" of players. It may still be below a million between both Xbox One and PC. (Being on Origin does it no favors either)

For all the hype Microsoft bought for the game, they also gained backlash thanks to paying to keep it off other platforms, that did not sit well with gamers. It lacks the universal good will that CoD4 had, it needs that if EA or Respawn expect to take down CoD.

Odd if they do, as the 360 ver is now delayed until April 8th, so at best they would know good sales # ~ between the 10th and 11th (nearly 1 month post launch). Wont the usual sales trackers have a good faith estimate by then? I'm now more curious is they (Respawn & EA) plan to turn this into an annual release cycle or every 2 years, and how they will expand upon it, since the campaign is supposedly not deep...

I've said several times in this thread that PS4 doesn't need a single game TitanFall killer. It being $100 cheaper, the better multiplat performance, plus a diet of diverse games is all the competition TitanFall needs.

Turns out, Titanfall might need to be killed even less. Walmart has dropped the bundle to $450 here in the US:

http://www.joystiq.com/2014/03/21/titanfall-bundle-discounted-by-50-at-walmart/

I can't think of any reason why Walmart would discount an item that is selling well by $50. My conclusion is that it's not selling well enough. Seems like they just want to clear out some inventory. GAF thread indicates that they are selling the standard console for $450 as well. Couple that with the Titanfall360 delay and MS being so far mum on sales performance and things are coincidentally not looking well.

When logging onto the server in the game does it have a player count like other games? Be curious as to what these counts are during peak usage hours on the X1.

I think exclusivity hosed this game. A lot of its potential customers dropped the Xbox and migrated to PS.

There have been $50 promotions in one form or another for the Xbone for a while now. Packed in free game and $50 on top though I'm not sure. I think the TF bundle is a limited time deal but not sure.

Yup, the large disparity in performance on blockbuster franchises at lower price is very advantageous for Sony. Sony developed one hell of a console and are being rewarded with great sells for it.

Except:

1) I'm not aware of any promotion that priced that XboxOne + Titanfall for $450
2) This isn't a promotion, it's just walmart's price.
3) It appears they did this with the standard console as well, it's just currently pointless next to the Titanfall bundle (unless the standard console comes with a game?)

So they have a non TF console at the same price as the console that includes TF? Zero reason to buy the non-TF bundle then. I wonder if it is a mistake and should be $50 less for the non-TF bundle only.

Or maybe MP only games just don't sell that good when compared to games with SP. You now, like every other MP only game and like a few of us mentioned earlier in this thread only to get ridiculed. I'm not saying they don't sell a lot of units but, when was the last time one was a run-a-way smash hit. Even BF4, a game built mainly for MP, has a SP campaign; no matter how dumb it may be, it's there.

Simple fact is that SP is still much more important to many gamers (I'm one of them), which is why not everyone who buys these consoles even subscribes to XBL or PSN. I'm not the best example because I use GF so much these days but, before I had GF (and since), I had never bought a MP only game but I have bought plenty of SP only games.

Yup, I mostly do single player games (some online dabbled in here and there) though something like Dark Souls II (free to play online for the Sony side anyways) has a really cool multiplayer element to it as well. I have been paying for PS+ for a long time, but that is mainly because Sony packs in such a fantastic value with the games offered and discounts.

I'm sure the game is selling very well to people who already own the x1, it's probably not pushing as many consoles as they hoped though, and in turn that's dragging the game sales down. It's only out for x1/PC right now, there's no way the sales are going to look favorable next to something like ghosts.

I'd prefer games ditch whatever they're tacking on. If they're going to make an equal effort on both fronts like cod, then by all means keep both. But crappy campaigns in MP games (BF and TF I'm looking at you) and pointless MP modes in SP games (Tomb raider, etc)....no one wants that.

The Walmart promo included Titanfall. If you get an Xbone without Titanfall, you can get a code for Forza 5.

The BF4 campaign was pretty good actually.

Oh your way off, the BF4 campaign sucked... tongue.gif I actually enjoyed the BF3 SP but 4 was too disjointed, were here, were halfway around the world, no were in Siberia for random reasons... I tolerated it but thought it sucked as a story. Levels were cool but thats about it because the story didn't make much sense. Yes, I do expect more unfortunately. biggrin.gif

I'm torn on tacked on. I really liked Far Cry 3 MP and I liked Bioshock 2's MP as well but they were clearly after thoughts. What I would say is if its in there they do it right. If its going to be a half@$$ effort to meet bullet points leave it out and make the campaign a little better or maybe longer.

TF didn't need a "campaign". Who cares about some crappy story, get in robot and kill. That's why its MP only. But then somebody has to know why their killing robots...good old days was crappy porno type story in the liner, Quake, Doom, etc. Your killing things, that's the game and all you need to know.

inFAMOUS: SS debuted at the top of the VG charts in the UK for the week ending March 22nd: http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2014/03/24/uk-sales-chart-infamous-second-son-dethrones-titanfall-to-take-1/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=uk-sales-chart-infamous-second-son-dethrones-titanfall-to-take-1

Titanfall was 3rd place, down 73% from the previous week. But it outsold inFAMOUS roughly 2x in their debut weeks, respectively (both in two days of counted sales).

MGS: Ground Zeroes was 2nd with 58% of sales on PS4, 15% on PS3, and 27% on Xbox 360 and Xbox One combined...

I have to think most of Titanfall sales will be in the US, but interesting stats nonetheless. We have a long wait for NPD numbers for March.

MCV has been told by a trusted retail source that sales of PS4 consoles jumped 106 per cent last week as exclusive title InFamous: Second Son debuted on Sony’s machine, jumping straight to No.1 in the process.

That’s a bigger jump than Xbox One enjoyed following the release of Titanfall – that saw sales of Microsoft’s machine jump 96 per cent.
So in the UK it seems like Infamous was the Titanfall equalizer, as far as console sales go.

Yeah, it's a pretty muddled picture. Apparently the PS4 has been very supply constrained in the UK for the last month or so, but got a shipment of inFAMOUS bundles. So the sales bump could reflect simply that the console is actually available again, hard to say.
