All I know is it's from Naughty Dog, and I've liked games they made in the past (Crash Bandicoot, Jak & Daxter, Uncharted). I always meant to look into it on the PS3, but for some reason never did. The hype around this game is creating some very high expectations.

Same here. When it was coming out for PS3 I was interested in it, but for some reason I never played it. When I heard it was coming to PS4 I preorder right away. I'm getting pretty excited to finally see what all the hype has been about.

Realize i need to go get this pre-ordered. Curious what media format others have pre-ordered?

Part of my wants physical so I know I will always have access to the game, but the other part wants this digital so I can be lazy and not have to swap discs. My fear with the latter is what happens if Sony at some point decides to make the game no longer available for download? I know the idea of ownership of digital media (especially games) has flown out the window over the past few years. Will I care in 5 years time about this title. It is one of the few reasons I still have my PS3....

For those who have pre-ordered, why are you going with the format you chose?

I love digital for PC games because when I'm on the PC I tend to jump around and play something for a couple minutes to an hour, and then email, surf or switch to a different game.

For consoles I'm happy with physical - I usually only play one thing at a time (save casual or small games) per console, and I can do something with the game when I'm done - trade, sell, or most commonly, stick in a drawer.

I still prefer physical as I play one game at a time in most cases then trade it in when it is done. Also, during E3, Amazon (Canada) had a special 30% pre-order sale and they kind of messed it up and ended up giving close to 45% off so was no-brainer for this one.

That's a highly personal choice to make. Everyone's mileage will vary, etc. However I choose disc based because I just prefer physical media. One thing I barely missed out on the PS3 release was the "Pandemic" limited edition. That would have been a cool Chotchkie to have on display. Can't get those if you go strictly digital, although its a moot point on this PS4 release.

I do hate to wait for something I paid for, so mail order for physical discs (Amazon) is out. Guess I am just "old school" and impatient. I may be lead to change if I get on the playstation TV bandwagon however and if pre-loading becomes a standard.

Also I would not worry about Sony not allowing you to download the game. Proof of concept is that you can still get 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand (?!), Ridge Racer 7, and Burnout Paradise in the PSN store today. So I would imagine Sony would keep their crème de la crème title available for a long time.

Warning: I make a lot of mistakes but occasionally I learn from them!

I highly recommend this game to anyone on the fence about this remastered edition who've never played it on the PS3. I've been gaming for a very long time and this is the best game I've ever played.

Chances are I'll probably get physical so I can trade in my PS3 edition.

for the love of all things...WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE AT ND?!?!

such nice improvement for a PS3 title. They are going to just wreck this generation of console gaming!

The only REAL issue I'm having when trying to decide whether to pick this up or not is that fact that there is absolutely zero footage of actual gameplay out there. I don't know about you guys, but that concerns me a bit. I know the hype train is in full force thanks to the tweets between ND, but I'm waiting to see how much improved the game looks during actual gameplay before dropping money on it.

Is this still coming out at the end of the month?

I saw an option to specifically pre-download Destiny to my PS4 in September, which I pre-ordered. But I did not see a pre-download option for The LAst of US which I also pre-ordered.

Due 7/29/2014. Two weeks!

I have no idea about the pre-download. Guess it's not available for this game.

I believe Destiny will be the first title to take advantage of pre-download, in September.

I want to remind everyone that there is a GREAT multi-player aspect to The Last of Us. Many people (myself included) initially believed that the multi-player was just a tacked-on mode with no real value. I started playing it for the trophies a couple months ago, and haven't stopped.

Can't wait to see how the multi-player looks and runs on the PS4. All the DLC is included as well, which I currently don't have.

Actually, Transformers was the first game to support Pre-loading but the Last of Us pre-order was put up on the store before that feature was available.

Is the DLC more than just hat skins?

Performance has also improved, with instant load times thanks to streaming from the hard drive instead of the disc.

Kinda lame (?) that not all DLC is included and it is too late to buy the seasons pass. I only played MP twice, but in all honesty I didn't get attached THAT much. Single player was spectacular enough for me.

I felt the same way about multiplayer at first, but give it a chance to grow on you. I had been playing COD so long that the change of pace and different mechanics were hard to adjust to.
Try for the multi-player trophies, and see if it grows on you. They don't take that long to achieve.

I'm glad the DLC multiplayer maps are included, but it does stink that everything is not included. I'm going to have buy some weapons and perks still.

Will grab it once it hits $30 on local CL or retail, should not take long since it is said to be selling so well (pre-orders).

Indeed it is, but the older I get (45) the more important it is to spend time with family versus playing video games.

I hope my priorities are that screwed up when I'm as old as you!

Just kidding. I'm 42 and my son goes off to college in the fall, so I guess I'll actually have MORE time to play.

This sounds interesting:

Quote:
One Night Live will highlight the artistry behind The Last of Us with a live reading of select scenes by the principal actors, under the direction of Neil Druckmann from Naughty Dog. Scheduled to appear are Troy Baker, Ashley Johnson, Merle Dandridge, Hana Hayes, and Annie Wersching. In addition, Academy Award winning composer Gustavo Santaolalla will perform selections from his score.
