Hi, I'm looking for a new tv for around $350, which will be used just for gaming. Currently i have a tv thats only 720p with 60Hz. My main question is that should i be looking for something with both 1080p and 120Hz or wil 60Hz be fine? Ive done some research, and it seems that there is no point in buying a tv with 120Hz if it's going to be used just for gaming...

Anyways, could y'all help me find a good enough tv around the given budget? Thanks in advance!

If you can get a 50" plasma, go for it! I've seem some for $399 At times at Frys. Unless you have a really bright room.

You'll be fine without 120hz, though most lcd displays have that anyways.

Dude, get a plasma ASAP. This may be the last year you'll be able to do so. No comparison to crappy LCD. Once you get a plasma, you'll be pissed that everyone is buying LCD and killing off a great display technology in favor of the newest one. Because as we all know, newer is always better. rolleyes.gif

Plasma has it's problems too.  For gaming be sure and check out the lag times.  Every about 15ms equals one frame in delay so generally people like to keep it in the 30 range or less.  I don't know much about the cheap TV's but I'm guessing some of them have pretty bad lag times.  Since the PS4 goes to 60hz max should be no problem sticking to that to save $.

I have been saying this too unless I were to go with a PJ but if plasma goes the way of the dodo bird we might not have an option. mad.gif

Whats a recommended plasma brand for gaming? I recall the Panasonic ST series being one of the best recommended for movies.

Does anyone have any opinions of the Sony KDL-W900 series? Feel like it was listed as one of the lowest ms TVs on the market.

I wouldn't mind a unit in my man-office for gaming.

Agree with everyone here plasma is the way to go. Sadly, panasonic isn't making plasmas anymore and Samsungs tend to have a lot of input lag

Is there a VGA Cable available for PS4 or Xbox One? If so, I'd recommend the Samsung A650. Not only is it a plasma, but it is one of the few HDTV models that will output 1080p over VGA. My Xbox 360 plays like butter with the A650 + VGA combo (although I had to go out of my way to track down an official VGA cable for my pre-slim console).

Just got the Samsung PN60F5350 plasma and it is great. I play NHL competitively online and no discernible input lag and it looks great. The size of the TV you can really see plays open up. Won my last game 9-1 and I never score anything near that.

Nice!

I am still on the fence about getting this series (51" version) because of the input lag. Many sites say it is in the 70's some say it is in the 40's (PC mode), either way I may play it safe and get a Sony LED.
