Every time I see something else on this game it just reinforces that day one purchase I'm going to make.

Visually the game looks amazing and it will be a day one purchase if only for the experience of getting in my spaceship and flying in one continuous sequence from solid ground into outer space (haven't done that since Skyfox on the Apple II).

However, I do wish there was a little more information on just what the structure of the game will be like as I have heard all sorts of conflicting stories. Will there be standard missions? Will there be a world/mission creation toolkit? Will it have some kind of a campaign? Etc.

Forgot to post this the other day. The Verge visited the studio and got a little hands-on time as well.

I wonder if the flora and fauna are procedurally generated from a bunch of different parts and textures or if there are just a set number of fully formed plant and animal types that are stuck onto each planet. The former may be asking too much but it would make exploration much more compelling.

I am trying not to get too excited about this game, but it is hard. It looks amazing and the concept is extremely compelling for me. But the developers are shooting for something that is very ambitious, and I just don't want to get too hyped only to have it not deliver in the end.

Is there any objective, my main worry is there may be this massive universe with nothing to do in it.

The developer interview suggests that players will start at the edge of the galaxy and the story will compel them to travel toward a goal at its center, beefing up their capabilities along the way. For whatever that's worth.

The one thing I'm worried about is that since everything is procedural that there won't be enough variation between worlds. If all the worlds have the same dinosaur like creatures but with different names or colors or the heads a switched hear and there, the game will get boring fast. Same can be said for the planets themselves, if all the vegetation/landscape looks similar but just different colors then this game will probably not hold my interest for very long. Who cares if they can have an infinite number of planets if they all end up looking pretty similar, that just doesn't sound that exciting to me.

I just hope that each planet is truly different and unique but, that may be asking to much. I hope not though.

Haven't seen a release date even hinted at yet. Gamespot has been doing a new article on them every day since Monday this week, check out the link below.

I feel bad for these guys. They're getting so much hype it's not even funny. Going to be hard to live up to.

The latest video answers some of my questions about the variety of plants and animals. Each type has a bunch of different sliders for every characteristic so there should be a decent variety. That giant snake creature in the desert was really impressive too. I've read about collecting resources to sell, but I hope that applies to plants and animals too. It'd love to travel around different worlds, looking for rare plants or dangerous creatures to hunt.

That was a good video. I wonder if you'll ever run into other civilizations or is it going to just be wildlife? I'm talking about finding a planet with a city on it, not just the few structures we've seen in some of the videos.
