The Golf Club 2 announced! - release being aimed for 1Q 2017

Here is the annoucment: http://thegolfclubgame.com/2016/06/1...ent-dev-diary/

And the first preview:

I love TGC and can't wait for the new one. This will be a day one must buy for me!

This was posted by one of the dev in their forums:
Quote:
"... the author will be able to republish their old course into TGC2 with the push of the publish button if they want. If you want to make some changes or upgrades you can do that as well using all of the new tools. "
That's great news because it means some of the great courses in the current game can move to the new game pretty quickly.

I'm definitely going to be in the market for a golf game in 2017. Now I'm going to have to decide which though.

Even though nothing has been announced yet, it seemed fairly obvious from the beginning that EA was going to be on the "every other year" plan with Rory McIlroy PGA Tour just like they are with their UFC franchise. That means a new one should be out mid 2017. I passed on the first one as it was bare bones and looked awful with it's lack of features, but I'm hoping they learned their lesson and will deliver everything that has been added through patches into the new game at launch. Time will tell as that is EA we are talking about.

Any way, the Golf Club does look spectacular and I may be willing to give it a shot, but I just know I will miss the real licensed golfers and courses that the other game has. If this is truly coming out in Q1, then at least it will be out for a few months before the other is and I can weigh the options then.

I'm a little sad we have to buy a new one.

Don't wait Tom, GC is excellent. It's no "video game", don't expect shot assistance and all the other unreal junk EA has in their games (I have Tiger on the PS3 and Rory on the PS4), it is more like real golf.

I'd like to see GC2 be more multi-player friendly when everyone is in the same room. Store players, let them log in with their PS account, etc.

TGC 2 launches on June 27th (PS4, XBOX, PC) for $39.99.

I finally picked up TCG over the weekend in order to 'prep' for the sequel and boy did I miss out not picking up this gem sooner - it's fantastic and truly a SIM.

Boredom's not a burden anyone should bear.

Finally! With the news that EA Sports dropped out of the golf game business after completely destroying the brand with Rory McIlroy, this was the only real alternative. Glad to see it finally has a release date.

I didn't know EA has scrapped their gold game, haven't paid much attention since getting TGC back in 2014. Honestly, I think TGC stole a good portion of EA's audience. EA's game may look better but, the gameplay was much better IMO in TGC and the course creator was a game changer. TGC may not have officially licensed course but, I have been incredibly impressed with some of the recreations the community have built. TGC is the only golf game I need, except I'll probably get the new entry in the Hot Shot series as well. I doubt I would have ever purchased EA's golf game again as long as TGC is around.

I can't comment on the first TGC, but in looking at the videos leading up to TGC 2 I'd say the graphics are on par (no pun intended) with EA's game.

Holy crap I never played TGC before. And never liked any EA golf games, maybe except way back in 2008 TW was ok.

But basically no good golf games for PC or PS4 for like forever.

Can't wait to tee it up online next month. Will get this on release day!

Picked up a copy of golf club the other day as a game for myself, other than the grandkids.
Absolutely love the game, played it with my father for about 5 hours yesterday and we couldn't put it down.
Only one problem, I got the two player and two controllers working on the first round of 18 holes but after that two players worked but the second controller wouldn't. Shut the whole thing down and restarted several times but couldn't get the second controller up and running. Finally gave up and we spent the next several hours passing the control back and forth. Anybody have any clues about what's wrong?
Also wondering if the new version will be 4K compatable, any benefits for the PS4 PRO?

Have a question for those who have played the first game.

Like I've said before, I will kinda miss the real licensed courses that EA's game provided, but I know that the community has done a good job in somewhat recreating the real thing. That said, what I really loved in EA's games were the fantasy courses. The ones that were so ridiculous it offered a big challenge (i.e. The Predator, Grand Canyon, etc.)

While TGC's courses are technically fantasy courses, don't they still basically look like a real golf course? Are there options to create courses in this game that say are set in a desert, deep forest, canyon, glaciers, etc?

Wow, this is going to take some practice! This is definitely not the golf games I remember (i.e. Tiger Woods).

First game I played was listed as Easiest and I shot 6 under. I thought "okay, this isn't that bad, I can do this." Then I tried a Medium course. 21 OVER!
What the hell just happened?!?! LOL I could not putt to save my life.

The putting to me is going to take some work to figure out. If say it tells you that the cup is 10 feet away on a flat surface and you pull back on the red marker that indicates how far the putt should go, wouldn't it stand to reason you are supposed to pull the putter back all the way before releasing it? When I do that, the ball takes off like it was shot out of a cannon.

So - are we going to have an AVS Society?

Not sure how many are playing, but HB Studios has been having some server issues since it launched. Frequent disconnects and long load times are making the game almost unplayable at times. Hopefully they will get it corrected soon.

also seeing a lot of people having issues with it crashing to the main ps4 screen. Sounds like they may need a patch very quickly

There is nothing in TGC that tells you how hard you should hit. It's all about learning to play, just like real golf. If TGC2 has helpers, I'll be disappointed. We truly enjoy learning how to play the game without any aids at all.

I'm not looking for it to tell me how to hit, I was just confused as to what that red indicator was on the green. After playing a bit more last night, I'm guessing it's just telling you what the distance would be if the green was perfectly level (i.e. it's further away than the hole if the shot is uphill).

I'm considering buying this game as well .. "Everybody's Golf" comes out in August if you dont mind the Hot-Shots style of play.

I was a big fan of Links on the original XBOX. Specifically, the online play that would you play against others simultaneously rather than turn-based (waiting for others to golf before moving on to your next stroke). You would hit the ball, then while you watched your ball move on the screen you would see tracers of the other players shots.

Can anyone comment on the online versus/co-op play?

The lag is so bad on this game that it's completely ruining the fun. They claim it's because the servers are overloaded, but I'm sure there is probably more to it than that.

Until this is fixed, I'm not playing because it's a waste of time at this point.

I'm considering getting this game for my laptop..... But I am unsure of how it will work for me since I will be relying on public Wi-Fi for internet. I know it says broadband internet required, but wondering if there is any way to make it work. I appreciate any advice.

Last I checked on their official forums, one of the HB guys said they think it has something to do with the controllers and losing the Bluetooth connection. He suggested (after a forum member mentioned a possible fix mind you) that you should plug in your controller and switch it from Bluetooth to USB. Not exactly an ideal fix and I don't know if it works as I haven't tried it yet.

Then, he goes on to say the one thing that annoys me to no end with developers. They can't reproduce the issue. What?!?!
How is it possible if so many people are experiencing the same thing that the developers can't see it as well? It's not some random occurrence, it's almost every swing.

That's a cop out and frankly as a consumer makes me less likely to buy the product. That's a total hey we made it go buy it and leave us alone attitude.

The game from what i have read needs a patch. Until they do that I am not buying it.

I've seen it mentioned that PS4 was more of an afterthought, as it was designed for PC / Xbox and they just assumed it would work the same on PS4. I've had swing-related issues, but I more annoyed by playing up to 17 holes of a nice course and then get a crash that boots me from the game and I have to start over. The percent of rounds I've completed is probably 25-30%. That's just not acceptable. The longer this goes on the more likely I am to consider logging a complaint with Sony and see if I can get a refund.

While crashes are annoying (somehow I only experienced one during a tutorial so far), I heard that the game saves after every hole. All you would have to do is resume where you left off.

This has not been my experience. After each crash, I go to "Resume" on the menu and there is never anything there. It would be nice if this happened, but I have yet to see it work.

Well, that certainly sucks.

While people bashed EA's games for being "too easy", at least there weren't these problems. Lack of content, yes, but at least it was stable.

They are working on a patch as we speak. Will probably be 1-2 weeks though as it has to go through the console certification process. Unfortunately it's not like PC where patches can be dropped right away.
