If you haven't heard already, may want to read up on some recent reports on problems people are having with PSP units.

http://psp.ign.com/articles/581/581896p1.html

its not a major issue, but certainly worth knowing so you are not suprised if it should arrise.

This is why you don't buy Sony products at launch.

After seeing games like Ridge Racer and Madden running on a DS, I'm sure people will take their chances.

Don't think of it as screendoor, it's more like an infinite game of tic tac toe.

Who mentioned the DS???

I'm just posting a link to an article about the PSP. Looks like someone has some issues they need to deal with.

I am not pre-ordering until I hear some specific info from Sony on an actual release date and price ;) . I hope that some of the manufacturing issues can be over-come for the US launch . I also hope we see better game selection than the Japanese launch [ even though I already want a few of those too ;) ] .

--- Thanks for the link alczervik2 :) .

That's what I'm doing, dealing with the issue. Quagmire post=Nintendo Power. Why else would you post something negative about the PSP on a PSP pre-order thread?

[edited non-constructive]

I just merely mentioned that many people in Japan were pretty upset about this little bug. I know as a gaming geek I like to have all the info before buying anything. Trust me, I took the dead pixel issue with the DS very seriously and inspected mine thoroughly when getting one. Would be pretty bummed out if I got a new system and found out it had a defect that someone here could've informed me about. I am not stating opinion here or anything, merely presenting some facts. Sorry if this has somehow struck a nerve with you.

I don't think it's trolling.

I'm glad he posted that info above. I hadn't read that yet. Good to know.

My two cents,
Jay

Well, maybe it's just me assuming most gamers knew about this. Although that IGN article is new, the news about defective units is old. Also, unless you've seen quagmire's other posts, you would think he's giving useful info, but that's proabably not the case.

So far the only person to give useless information here is you. My post provided useful information on something that is fairly recent. Yes, PSP has had other issues, but this button one is fairly recent, hence me posting about it. You'll also note that I said it was not a major issue, but certainly something to know about if you get one. Obviously Misterme felt the link was worthwhile, and I am sure others who maybe did not know about this will also feel the same. I am not trying to talk anyone out of getting a PSP. I've always said its a cool system. Just making sure others know the facts.

Guys,

This thread has been reported and I would ask that you "tone it down".

If you have nothing of value to add then don't. If the "tone" continues it will be either 1) closed or 2) certain posts will be edited/deleted. I ask that you keep me from doing that.

Let's try to help instead of hinder, eh?

'Nough said.

$400 for the system and three games doesn't add up. the system came out for about $168 in japan. lets assume its 200 here. if the games are $50 each, where the hell does the other $50 go?

It also says you get an accessory (I guess the one of your choice). If I didn't already have a PSP I don't think I would do the bundle. The reason is because I'm not sure I would buy the games since I have gamefly. Why are they forcing the bundle online but not at the stores?

Games are rumored to be somewhere around $40-$50. It can vary with the developer as with the DS some games were $30 and some were $40. Developers have some flexibility in what they can price a game, but Sony mandate things so that companies aren't charging extreme prices.

Because the PSP is a fairly advanced system, I would expect most games to cost around $40 mostly with some premium games to cost $50.

I feel that $50 is WAY overpriced for a game for a portable game.

I look at it this way.... I pay $50 for a full blown PC game. I don't see how it could be merited to pay $50 for a PSP game.

I feel even $40 is a tad pricey.

A little bit hipper than Crockett and Tubbs...

EBGames is probably just taking the highest price they think the PSP will be and adding on to that. So hopefully the PSP bundle will lower to around $350 when the actual PSP price is announced. Personally if I do buy the PSP anytime soon I will probably try to just buy the system. There are only 3 PSP games that I am interested in and two of them will not be available at launch.

It does seem a little high though I remember paying $70 for Nintendo 64 games 8 years ago. Also since the PSP can basically play the equivalent of PS2 games I expect that PSP games will be larger and more detailed than past handheld games. At least that is what I am hoping for future PSP games (launch titles are usually not that good). If price was the only indication of a product's quality than everybody would be using Linux.

Does anyone think that a service like Gamefly will be renting out PSP games?

That's a good question. When the DS lauched I called and asked them when they would get DS games. The guy assured me that they would have them but still no DS games. The only reason I can offer is that maybe the DS games were are so small that they're making a new case specifially designed to ship the cartridge. it could also be that lauch libraries are so small that they may wait until they grow some before offering them (which would mean PSP will also have to wait for Gamefly support).

anyone know if the GTA they're releasing for it is going to be multiplayer; or some other form of interesting? i cant see myself picking that up if it isnt; since vice city's likely going to remain half-finished on the shelf for a loooooong time.
