The only thing I can recommend is that you use component cables (which
I'm sure you're using). I wonder if the next Playstation will allow backwards compatibility with some graphical enhancement options....

well i just popped in GTA SA and it looks MUCH better than ncaa.

i can live with ncaa and considering it consumes 99% of my gaming, i would NEVER buy an xbox with its problems with ncaa.

Just make sure your brightness and contrast are at reasonable levels as well as your sharpness.. having them cranked up to high can make any game machine look bad. Try turning them down a bit.

You're right, the XBOX version of this game is unplayable IMO. If you're mostly playing NCAA stick with the PS2. I have both systems and I've come to the realization that the PS2 won't ever look great on a big display no matter what you do. The lack of AA just ruins the experience for me. 1 or 2 480p games look decent but I usually keep the PS2 on my smaller display where it looks fine.

Don't think of it as screendoor, it's more like an infinite game of tic tac toe.

Ps 2 graphics are just awful at this point. There are a few games worth putting up with like Killzone but the Ps2's time has come and gone. I'm not really sure it ever really came....

Sony seems to have a habit of making their consoles barely powerful enough to compete. Although they are probably relying on the software...

Unfortunately Sony rushed their console to market because they were worried about the Dreamcast and they put out a sub standard console. But they didn't really care because they knew the name alone would get them by.
That's the trouble when you have a hugely successful console maker, they don't really try to satisfy the public like a hungrier console make would do, like the Xbox tried to do.
The PS2 did not have any sort of connectivity out of the box, barely supports higher resolution gaming, or multiple controller ports built in.
The Dreamcast had a modem, VGA capability (with an optional connector) and 4 player controller ports out of the box.
Sony dropped the ball and unfortunately we are stuck with substandard equipment until they deem we are ready for the next console. Let's cross our fingers and hope Microsoft scared them enough to actually try harder.

Hehe, they might get the processing power right, but I have a feeling they'll skimp on the ram :) (another thing I noticed from them). I think the original Playstation only had 4mb of ram (I don't know how they pulled that off), and the PS2 has something around 32-36mb I think. I bet the next Xbox will have up to 1gb and the next Playstation will have 128-256 :D

lol i think its safe to say with 80+ million units sold, a 50% market share and customers beating down the doors for a 5 year old system that the ps2 has, in fact, arrived with authority...

You missed the point, I think saying the PS2 arrived with authority is the same as saying Bose did too.

Well the Sega Master System was the technically superior system to the NES, the Lynx and Game Gear better 8-bit portables than the Game Boy,
and the Nomad was essentially a Game Boy Advance that Sega put out 10 years ago...the moral of the story is there will always be superior platforms, but software (along with hype and what your neighbor has ) is what sells systems.

Just enjoy your Xbox and let it go. You'll live longer. :D

and of course I meant that from a GRAPHICAL standpoint, not a business or fanboy insulting standpoint. You see you have to read the WHOLE post, not just parts of it.
;)

The PS2 arrived by it's name only. The Bose comparison is a good one. People are sheep and we know darn right well that Joe Six pack never picks what's best he picks what's popular.

Unfortunately, the games on consoles are proprietary. It's more than just a case of choosing the inferior but popular product...Imagine if a company came out with a crappy sounding proprietary audio format, and all your favorite albums are only released on that format. Then there is this other audio format that is above sacd in sound quality, but nothing you listen to is released on it (or atleast, not enough to make buying a player for that format at all worthwhile). That is the situation that many gamers face when choosing a console (and some of the more affluent end up buying multiple consoles for exactly that reason ;))

Very few games are exclusive to one console though, the majority of games can be found on at least 2 of the 3 consoles.

That has been happening a lot more recently, but in the early days of these consoles, that was not the case (not to mention certain franchises like to stick with one console whether it be inferior or not). We should all be grateful that the multi-console releases have become more popular :)

Yeah i guess I have to agree. If you are an RPG fan it's pretty obvious you will get a PS2. I guess I was thinking more about the Hype and all those people standing in line jumping on the PS3 back when it came out.
I think a lot of those people missed out on the Dreamcast.
