Have a new slim-line PSTwo that will not go into Progressive Scan for DVD playback . The option is there but it is greyed out and cannot be changed . I also cannot change the aspect ratio mode out of 4:3 or enable DTS via the optical output . This is for DVD playback ONLY , games work fine in progressive [ like Tekken 5 ] and yes I do have Component cables connected as well as an Optical cable .

--- Anything I am missing here or does it sound like a defective console ?

--- I do not think the DVD remote is required [ or is it for those features ] ?

-------- Thanks ,
--------- Jason

make sure the DVD disc is in "full stop" mode when trying to change settings like that. i know my 50000 version wont let me modify PS, dts, or aspects if the disc is not fully stopped.

also, the remote shouldnt be required. you should still be able to setup any programmable remote to "Sony DVD player" codes and use it to control the PS2.

darklordjames ,

--- Thank You for the response ;) .

--- What I had to do was remove my memory card and then it allowed me to change the settings ... very odd [ it is an official Sony memory card ] .

*** Oh and for those curious , I am not using the PS2 for dvd playback at all but I needed the progressive playback to function so that I could calibrate my Projector for the PS2 Progressive Scan games [ looks much better now ;) ] . ***

---------- Thanks ,
