Most malls will have doors open for people to walk into before the mall stores open. Thats usually how employees get to there stores.

Sure, but what he is referring to though is that when lines have formed up outside the store before the mall opens up what happens when the doors of the mall open? Do people stay together in the line and calmly walk to the game store or does it become a free for all?

With several entrances available in the mall, they can't keep people to stay in a single line. If that's the case everyone else can calmly walk in a line while they watch me run my ass from Sears entrance like a maniac with with my hands up screaming it's mine! LOL

You wont have to worry because there will be pre-orders. Just wait and see.

Ummm yeah we will. Basically people will be lining up/camping for pre-orders instead of on launch date.

On another note, hopefully my contact at a store that people have COMPLETELY forgotten, will come through :prays:

Or you can do like me....

Chill with my manager friend at his store the entire night. Then, before the doors open, wake-up, waltz over to the EB/GS, and be the first there.

Yes they can. I have been in a morning launch line at a mall... I think it was the PS2 even. The mall knew it was happening and had security open one entrance so eveyone was lined up at EBgames' gate/door.

It may not be the case at your mall so YMMV, but it has been happened in the past.

If the mall was smart they would let the people stay inside the mall overnight. Also if the Gamestop/EB was smart and there was a line outside before the mall opens, they would go ouside and hand people a ticket in the order they are lined up in. Better yet they can do it the night before when they close cause people are going to be lined up for days.

Just spoke to my manager friend at Gamestop, and he said they aren't taking pre-orders and they are expecting 10 or less units.

I don't have a manager friend... but I might just have to camp somewhere unless I can find a preorder.

not sure if this is old news , but i just got off the phone with the manager my local store who just got back today from the convention and she told me that 1,000,000 PS3's have already been recalled, from RSX issues to Cell issues to overheating issues ( not at the convention, that was due to overall heat from 10,000 people and 250 PS3's running for like 10 hr's), thus why there is such a small amount for launch world wide. Not sure if this is ture, maybe Jann can shed somelight on it.

1,000,000 already recalled? I thought they haven't even started shipping the 400,000 that we were suppose to get?

worldwide is what shes telling me, like how N.A. was supposed to be like 600k + but now only 400k or less, gotta think about europe and japan might each be like a loss of 200-400k units due to recall, anyhow thats why i was asking if jann maybe heard anythingm i highly doubt this chick who attended the convention would give me bad info....

There were only supposed ot be 500k going out worldwide. 400k in america 100k in japan and none in europe till march.

I can believe that they recalled 100k units but 1 million isn't possible.

you really can't recall something thats not even out yet anyways. Won't be out for another couple months. They have awhile to find out the bugs. PS3 is being air shipped, won't take but a few days to get them out to the venders.

Doesn't this "they had to recall all or most of them!" rumor start up every holiday season when we hear that supply is going to be significantly less than demand for some hot new product? Basically, everyone wants to come up with an elaborate excuse or story for exactly why the shortage exists.

In this case, the answer is simply that it's bleeding edge technology. This invariably means part shortages, late start to manufacturing, lower-than-expected manufacturing yields, etc. etc. None of this, however, qualifies as a "recall".

They have not even come close to building a million units yet, so there is no way they recalled a million.

EB/GS are waiting for FINAL allocation numbers right now. So I dont know how he would know how many units they are getting. Final allocations should be released anyday now into the EB/GS E-mail tunnel. If nothing happens next week then you can close this thread. But it is coming.

Wii pre-orders may start on the 9th. But My bet would be the 10th for both Wii/PS3

Im also being told that you CANT Pre-order both systems. Which is really retarded if true.

Just be on HEAVY lookout next week. I may be wrong by a couple of days....although I doubt it.

Im trying to gather as much info as possible and since I have friends who work at EB/GS including my brother who is a little higher up on the food chain Im trying to provide as much info as I can.

I know that EVERYBODY's GS/EB is all saying something different. But im almost sure Pre-Orders will happen and they will happen soon.
