Hopefully someone can help me.... I just bought a Plantronics Explorer 220 from Costco yesterday. I paired it with my PS3 and tried to use it but it wasn't working. Is there a way to test the device to make sure it is working properly? Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks!

My bluetooth i have used cost me about $100 but i can listen to music, talk, and use it with the PS3. It is the plantronics voyager 855. It has a slide down microphone so excellent quality worth every cent.

The bluetooth probably cant handle the information it is sending.

I just got my hands on a Plantronics Voyager Pro this week from work.

I tested it out on the PS3, and it does not work well.

There's some sort of interference between the headset and the controller. My controller went crazy, then the assignment was undone, and then it turned the controller off.

I contacted Plantronics support, and they confirmed it is a known issue and they are working with Sony on how to fix it.

So, for the time being I would avoid this headset.

Yes, interference and ultimately a full BT disconnect from the PS3 to BT devices. I would have though they would have fixed all that with the PS3 by now. Odd...

Wow, and I thought Plantronics was a safe headset company to get from for the PS3. Well it just goes to show that headsets are still hit or miss.

Hmm...I never had problems with my BT headset. I've had my PS3 since Jan 2007.

Maybe it's the BT that I have? It's a Jabra BT125.

I have a Jabra BT8040, and it exhibits the exact same issue.

Motorola H790 - Pairs with 2 phones/devices at a time, so I have it paired with my iPhone and PS3, no issues. Oh and its nice and loud/clear too!

I use a Moto H390 ... it's cheap and works fine.
However I don't use it as a headset, I only use it as a mic... for a number of reasons:

1) I usually wear headphones when I game. 'Nuff said - I can't put a headset in my ear when I'm wearing headphones...
2) Comfort - I don't like the feeling of a headset in my ear-hole. I don't like ear bud headphones, either. Personal preference, I guess.
3) Sound - I have a nice HT setup, I'm not about to put something in one of my ears that will muffle / distort / soften the sound of my speakers. Audio is such a big part of games these days that I just don't understand why people put something in their ear that will lessen that audio experience. Especially in the competitive world of online gaming, it seems like an instant disadvantage if you can't hear someone creeping up on your flank because you have something in your ear.

So I usually either rest my headset on my chest, or I just place it on the table in front of me (if I'm playing in my usual leaning-forward position)... And I plan to glue a clip to the headset so I can simply attach it to my shirt / lapel.

Since the controller charges through a mini USB connection, there is an attachment to plug in to the mini USB hole on the controller and on the other end would have a regular USB hole. You could try plugging in the USB headset to this and it just might work. Although, I dont think the ps3 would recognize the headset through the controllers bluetooth connection, meaning the ps3 couldn't determine if the controller is asking for audio and sending audio. It seems to me like this has a 80% chance of working based off of all my technical knowledge.

Hey folks, I just bought the Motorola S305 bluetooth headphones for my PS3. However, there is no bluetooth audio capability on the PS3 so I can only do voice and chat. What a bummer! The headphones paired great and work well. The fit isn't perfect, but there is good sound quality. I also paired the headphones with my macbook pro, and iphone 4.

I highly recommend the motorola s305 for an inexpensive solution. The were $37 at Amazon. com. Pairing with the PS3 is at the link below:
