It seems that Sony is planning to release a remote that uses bluetooth instead of the standard IR. I have a Harmony 880 and this news blows. I want to know if there will be any way to connect a USB IR receiver to my PS3 so I can use my Harmony remote instead of having to buy a separate PS3 remote just for bluetooth connectivity.

Any thoughts?

Right now the only way to do it is if you can find the PS2 Remote IR receiver and pretty much any PS2->USB adaptor. You won't get all the command functionality but a lot of the basic stuff will work. I already set my Harmony up to do this.

Thanks for the tip. I gave it a try and it indeed does work but only the buttons that are duplicated from the control pad. Non of the dedicated dvd buttons work but hey it's a start and it controls pretty much identical to using the six axis controller.

I've posted pics and details near the end of this post.

Hey,

Just mentioning that FYE has the ps2 remote on sale for $4.99 currently.

(And FYE goes by other store names sometimes to such as Coconuts Music.)

Thanks. I was able to purchase both items online for ~$22 including shipping. My setup is now one step closer to being wife friendly. I can't imagine my wife every picking up a contoller to play a BluRay movie. ;)
