Are you getting the most out of your PS3?
I am playing mine in glorious 1080p on my Sony KDS-R70XBR1!
In this forum I bet it's most of us!

I was playing in 1080p on a Mitsu HC5000 1080p projector. After using it for a few days, I determined the upgrade just wasn't worth it from my 720p Panasonic AE900. I just couldn't tell much of a difference between 720p and 1080p even on a 115" screen. So I returned it and spent my money upgrading my audio system. I notice a MUCH bigger difference taking advantage of the LPCM and TrueHD audio than I did going from 720p to 1080p.

So I'm still playing in high def, but I don't think I'll pick up another 1080p projector until maybe next Christmas, when I've got some more options.

Off topic, you should consider upgrading to the Logitech G25, I did and it's so much better than the Driving Force Pro on so many levels. I kept my DFP for other people to use when they come over, but it mostly collects dust now.

Playing in 1080i (upscaled to "p") on the 50" model (KDS-R50XBR1) - looks incredible!

Enjoying my PS3 in full glory on my 60A2000 and 42E2000. My movie viewing is mostly on the 60A2000. Gaming is usually in my bedroom on my 42E2000. Occasionally, I pop in a game after watching a movie when my PS3 is hooked up to my 60A2000.

How many of you actually see a significant difference at 1080 vs 720?

I am playing at 720p on a plv-z2 with a 92" screen. I too am waiting till prices come down some on the 1080p projectors. I may upgrade when my bulb burns out though, I will just have to see what my options are then. It does look great at 720p, especially after I enabled 1080i output for the blue ray and 1080 games.

I will be upgrading to 1080P when my front projector bulb blows or Fall 07, which ever comes first. Currently I am playing on a 768P front projector, sitting 9.5 ft from a 8 ft wide screen. And Yes, 1080P will make a differance in my case.

I play on a Pioneer 5070 plasma. It's a 50" with 1365x768p resolution and my viewing distance is about 8ft. I took my ps3 to my in laws last night and hooked it up to their kds60xbr1 and varied my viewing distance between 8-12ft. It is an amazing set, but the plasma looks better even though it is lower resolution. Just goes to show you that there are many other factors that contribute to image quality. BD output in 1080i also looks great on both sets with the an advantage to the lower res. plasma once again.

This is a little off topic but the one thing I prefer on the kds60xbr1 is football games broadcast in 1080i, but I think this has more to do with the signal because I have cable and my in laws have a very good OTA signal. With that said, my next set will definitely be 60" minimum and no less than 1080p. The extra 10" really is a lot bigger and the bigger size will of course make the extra resolution more apparent.

I am playing on kdlxbr1 40 in. Sony LCD (1366 X 768). Looks amazing. I would never soil the PS3 by hooking it up to a non HD TV . I already feel bad enough I am restricting precious pixels with my current set.

Playing on a 1360X768 Plasma. My friend who had a PS3 before me is using a Sony SXRD 1080P set and its not as good looking as the Plasma I am using or the Plasma another friend just bought (Panasonic, 1366X768).

I am sure a 1080P plasma will look better than a 768P plasma but so far the 1080P sets I have seen do not. More resolution but less overall picture quality IMHO.

Westy 1080P here! Yes I can tell there is a big difference in quality of the graphics when going from 720 to 1080P. Not everyone will agree I'm sure!

According to my display, everything is being output by the ps3 at 1080i, the highest seeting my display will accept, my KDF 55wf655 is loving the ps3, as is my wife. Not only did RFOM and GT look great, but the Blue Ray, WoW. One thing I did notice that I hadn't noticed before is that as a movie begins the 604 Onkyo reciever I have said T-D, then switched to PCM 5.1. Nevertheless, once you go HD, it's hard to do anything else.

I would hope all PS3 owners are playing in HD. I wouldn't be able to understand why someone would pay $500-$600 only to play on standard def TV. Might as well stick to the PS2.

I have my PS3 hooked up to my 720p 52-inch LCD.

Do you sit like 12" from the TV?

full 1080p goodness from my 42" Westy as well. Added the Xbox360+HD-DVD add-on this week as well (gotta get some use out of a 1080p-accepting VGA input, right?)

I'm in heaven. The Wii is on our 57" Toshiba in the living room for party stuff, and ps3 and 360 in my 'home office' for 7.1 surround and 1080p beauty...

Sweet set up man. I am playing on a fake 1080p tv (Samsung 6168 with no 1080p over hdmi) But it still looks fantastic!

I thought this set does not display native 1080p? What am I am missing about this? I thought that is the difference between this and the KDS-R70XBR2 Thanks.

That's a 70XBR2 (2006 model) and it most certainly DOES take 1080p over it's HDMI inputs.

The 2005 model SXRD sets, like most of the first 1080p displays are native 1080p though they cannot accept that via any input.

I am just saying that the owner of this set does not know what model he has I guess - check his post. He calls it an XBR1 and thought XBR1 is 1080i only.

I saw it and it looks like a typo (there is no 70XBR1). Besides, the speakers are detached and the Sony "Full 1080p" sticker is visible on the lower right.
