IIRC, you had to run RB1 and kick off the export there, which makes it copy the tracks from the disc into individual files on your HDD.

yeah, I recall needing the disc too, which I don't have anymore. So I can't get them back for RB2 or RB3 it doesn't seem.

The question is how the RB4 verification process works. I may be ok since I have the Rock Band export in the psn store transactions under my profile. IF it just checks for that.

It just checks if the licenses had been previously bought. You don't need a disc or anything. In the case of Rock Band 3, it makes sure you played it on that same account before a certain date, and then you can buy the key.

As an update, I was able to import the original Rock Band songs fine.

It appears no Rock Band 2 or Lego Rock Band songs available yet (on ps4) unless someone knows otherwise.

Rock Band 4 online multiplayer is coming later this year, but there is a catch - you will have to pay for it.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Rockband/co...pter_going_to/

Surprised they are going this route. They probably need cash (sales underwhelming?) but charging for online means those who do pay for online won't have nearly as many people to jam with.

From the beginning they said that there would be no new RB games this console generation, just expansion packs for RB4; this will be the first such pack. They originally claimed that so few people were using the online multiplayer feature that they weren't going to implement it. Making the people who really want it pay for it makes it worth their while. I personally doubt that many people who aren't willing to pay for it would play in that mode if they added it for free. The game is nearly useless for the people who've been clamoring for it since they don't enjoy playing alone and rarely if ever have people to play with them locally.

I suspect that they'll bundle it with enough other features desirable to people whether or not they care about online that there will be plenty of people who buy it who wouldn't pay for online alone.

I just want to play the RB3 songs on my horded keyboards. Not asking for RB4 songs to be transcribed.

Just a special icon that says "hey I see a keyboard track in this song. If you have the instrument and everything needed to work, I'll load up the keyboard view".

They say that that's never going to happen. I'm fairly certain that the files downloaded for the RB3 export and post-RB3 DLC aren't the same as the files as appear on PS3; I don't think that they contain the keys charts. In one case of a song with no guitar chart (Lennon's "Imagine"), they've added a guitar chart mapping the piano to 5-button guitar (probably the same as the old basic keys chart, which could be played with 5-button guitar in RB3).

So glad I have the PS version, I see the XBOX guys still can't use their Ion drums.

Thanks for the link, although I wasn't all that interested in multi-player, the link led me to the Lego Rock Band export, which I was able to get for free.

Tornado, were you able to export it from the same spot as RB1 export in game? I will check for it tonight...

Yeah, but we've had almost all of our entitled exports for months. AFAIK, only the AC/DC pack isn't available and some people got that. I got all of mine: RB1, RB2, LEGO and Green Day.

I wonder how many people exported the on-disc songs versus people who own Ions (or people who play drums at all)?

I'd rather have my drums than all the songs. I have so many songs anyway...

Well, then, congrats--things worked out well for you . Maybe not so much for most other PS4 players .

It's not so much how many songs, it's which songs. Some of my very favorite songs in the game are in those exports, which have been very slowly released to PS4. I think that you guys just got LEGO.

Apparently support for Ions on Xbox One is coming in the fall.

I bought an Ion ps3 drum brain and Rock Band 4 for PS4, but I have over 2,000 songs over on Xbox, so I'm glad that they are finally adding support for the Ions there. It's going to be expensive, though, because I wouldn't even be considering an Xbox One otherwise. Especially because Microsoft is STILL blocking the Forza 3 wheel from working on Xbox One, even though it works great on PS4.

Apparently Lego and RB2 are both available for SCEA users now! (I've been a bit out of the loop, apologies if this is stale info).

Just Green Day & AC/DC to go, as far as exports are concerned...

Yeah, Lego has been out for a few weeks but I noticed RB2 was available when I was looking through the store. Nice!

I already had the Harmonix pack, but I was able to download the AC/DC pack for free. Thanks!

does any one else have problems with the calibration? I mean, when it is on, it is really good (I like the guitar much better than previous iterations) but it seems like you almost need to recalibrate each time you play the game! In the past, it was calibrate once when you got the game and you were done. Here, I find if I don't calibrate almost every session, I am missing notes I definitely should be getting. Definitely an annoyance!
I wonder if it has anything with it being bluetooth instead of the old dongles.

I have both an RB2 and RB4 guitar and am not having any problems. In my experience, something like that is just bad calibration, most likely. You can condition yourself to play well with it but after a break it feels all wrong.

I did have a problem early on where it wasn't correctly saving my calibration numbers (or it might have been user error). Make sure to write your numbers down and make sure they are "sticking". Also you could write down a set of numbers over time and see what kind of variance you get. Also make sure everything about your setup is the same each time, e.g. you're not using optical out audio one time and HDMI audio another.

Are you using the RB4 guitar auto-calibration, btw?

Thanks for the reply. YEah, i use auto-calibration and it was set at roughly100 and 60 as the most recent numbers and then last time it wasn't registering my notes played very well and when I recalibrated, it went to 130 and 100 or so and played great. This has happened like 3 times now where it has shifted significantly from something that worked well before.

No change in my audio setup, I will pay closer attention on the settings going forward. Odd.
