I've been looking for an HDTV with picture quality that is equal to an XBR8 but I want to play games with no lag at all. Is there any TV that is no more than 2,500 dollars that can do this? I named the price because i can get an XBR8 46" for that much but it has game lag. I've had an SD TV all of my life so even the slightest lag will easily be detected by me.

You want a Sony 34XBR960. The widest widescreen HD CRT Sony ever made (34" 16:9 ratio). Easy enough to find on eBay or Craigslist for $250-$700. Has HDTV tuner.

Or the Sony 36XS955, which is their 36" 4:3 ratio, if you prefer that. Both are the biggest ever built that have the SuperFinePitch screens & HDTV tuners.

But both are 200-250lbs, so bring 2 or 3 big friends to lift them. CRTs so same no-lag CRT performance.

The 40" Sony 40XBR800 is a 4:3 behemoth at 305lbs (displays 16:9 ratio as letterboxed at equivalent of 36.7 inches, but unlike the 2 above, it doesn't have a digital TV tuner (does have a DVI input for an external tuner/box), and doesn't have the SuperFinePitch screen.

Plasma, LCD (LED LCD), and DLP-type technologies still do not compete for lack of lag.

Ok. Then can you name some HDTVs that have picture quality equal to or that surpass the XBR8, has least lag, and maybe internet connected? I would prefer not to have a plasma because I don't want to "condition the gases" before I can change the brightness setting.

...Does anyone think that I should wait for the HD 3DTVs coming out next year?

coolio, sorry to say, but if you ask this question to 50 people, you're going to get 45 different answers. Best bet is to take your game console to the store, hook it up to various TV's, and see for yourself. Or, if the store has a game console already hooked up to a TV, ask to move it around.
