This is the first PC that I've ever built. I just needed some people to look over and make sure all the components that I have chosen work together and are good decisions. I'm open to suggestions that would lower the cost of the PC without hurting the performance.

Hey there, welcome to HTPC gaming!

First off, what are your goals for the PC? Gaming on a tv, projector, media center use, movies, etc?

A few suggestions:

1) I'd go with a blu-ray player/burner. Especially if you want to watch movies and the like, theyre pretty cheap these days.

2) Artic silvers good stuff, I put it on every machine. My machine is running on about 2 years now, super cool still, still havent changed thermal compound.

3) Look into liquid cooling, they are becoming very reasonable these days. Look into some reviews on newegg to help you decide. If youre going for a fan, i've had just about every brand and currently Zalman is my fave brand. I have this one in my pc now and love it, minus cleaning dust off every so often...

4) Memorys cheap, go for 16gb if you can afford it, I do like G.skill as well and believe they have a lifetime warranty?

5) For me, I would change case, but thats just me. I do like the cooler master cases:

The HAF line is one of my favorites to build in. Plenty of room, room for expansion if you want, great air movement, super sturdy, etc.

6) Upgrade card if you can, maybe to 2GB or run SLI/Crossfire. Again, all depends what youre using it for? I still have a ****** ATI 5770 1GB and runs everything pretty much great except at max settings. Im a fan of ATI`'s but thats just me! Sign up for newegg promos, they run specials on nvidia cards pretty much everyday, maybe you can find a deal there.

Hope this help, look forward to your reply...

Thermal Grease - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835100007
Came to $ 804.90 (CDN) w/ combos and Mail in Rebates

Changed CPU to a i5-3570k and a Z77 Mobo for overclocking.
GFX are now a Zotac GTX 560
Case is now a Cooler Master HAF
PSU is now a OCZ Zt Series 650W

Thanks for your suggestions though! I'll be keeping my eyes open for SSD and Gfx deals around Christmas and Boxing Day and hopefully I can snag some better parts.

I like everything you've put into your PC, but I'd spend the extra money and go for a higher-end GPU, just to future-proof your setup a bit. If not, I'd suggest going SLI later on down the road. If you're going to stick with a GTX 560, I'd go with EVGA (because many believe they're a better manufacturer), but that's totally your call.

I have a GTX 560Ti, and I love it. While it won't run Crysis or Metro 2033 smoothly at max/ultra, it runs pretty much everything else you can throw at it at 45-60+ FPS with maxed settings, as long as I don't go overboard with AA, etc.

For what you (and most other people) are trying to achieve, I honestly don't think you need 16GB of RAM. I have 12GB and I've never seen my PC use more than half of it. Just browsing around and surfing the internet, I don't go above 25%. I'd definitely go with a Blu-Ray player/burner if you're planning on using this as an HTPC, etc.

My setup is a couple years old, and the CPU could be more powerful, but it still powerhouses through most anything I throw at it:
-AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2.80 GHz (boost up to 3.30 GHz)
-12GB Corsair Vengeance Blue RAM
-EVGA GTX 560Ti 1024Mb
