Greeting all and happy holidays !! First time poster and long time lurker here. I hope Ive posted this in the correct area so please excuse me if I havnt.
Ok heres the situation;
I have a Yamaha RX-V467 AV reciever. Have 4 devices(Pc, PS4, BR Player, Cable Box) connected using the 4 HDMI inputs. HDMI out goes to my TV.
My wireless headset( Turtle Beach Earforce PX4) has a wifi transmitter box with a 3mm analog input, 1 optical out and 1 optical in at the back. Atm the only way Ive been able to get wireless sound through all hdmi inputs is by connecting a 3mm rca cable to the headphone jack on the reciever and connecting the other end at the analog 3mm input at the back of the wireless transmitter yet this isnt ideal since Im not getting dolby digital live sound especially when Im gaming on the PC or the Ps4.
Now what I would need to get this to work is to somehow find a way to ouput sound from my reciever using a optical out which unfortunately my reciever doesnt have and Im at a loss atm of figuring out what I could do other than finding a reciever with an optical out. Maybe theres some sort of accessory I could purchase that could help with this??
I'm not sure if your receiver passes audio to your tv through the hdmi cable, but if it does and your tv has a digital optical out you could try going from that to the optical in on the px4 box.

Yeah I thought of that the other day and tried it out but for whatever reason Im not getting any sound from that optical out. Looked through the manual and this is what I found.
✎ DIGITAL AUDIO OUT (OPTICAL) x When you connect a Digital Audio System to the DIGITAL AUDIO OUT (OPTICAL) jack, decrease the volume of both the TV and the system. x 5.1 CH (channel) audio is available when you connect the TV to an external device supporting 5.1 CH. x When the receiver (home theater) is set to on, you can hear sound output from the TV’s optical jack. When the TV is receiving a DTV signal, the TV will send 5.1 CH sound to the home theater receiver. When the source is a digital component such as a DVD player / Blu-ray player / cable box / STB (Set-Top-Box) satellite receiver and you connected it to the TV via HDMI, you will only hear 2 CH audio from the home theater receiver. If you want to hear 5.1 CH audio, connect the digital audio out jack from your DVD / Blu-ray player / cable box / STB satellite receiver directly to an amplifier or home theater.
Notice the bolded part. I think this is why it doesn't work but should my wifi transmitter still be transmitting 2ch audio ? I get nothing at all.
Edit: Also when I go into my tv(Samsung Syncmaster t27b350) options to enable optical out there are 2 options Pcm and Dolby Digital. PCM is the only option avail to me. DB is greyed out.
Try going directly from your ps4 to your px4 with an optical cable to make sure the optical port does work. I added a link to a 2 way splitter in my next post that would work, if your PC has an optical out
Maybe someone else that has experience with Yamaha and Samsung equipment will jump and give you a better solution.
Pc has an onboard sound card with optical out(realtek Alc892 chipset) but haven't been able to get more than 2 ch out of it and after looking around the net it appears this chipset doesn't have the licences for DDL so that's why I cant enable it in the options panel. There are hacs on the net that can supposedly get it to work but I haven't been able to.
I think what I would really need to do to get all my HDMI connected devices to work with the wireless headphones through DDL is to find some kind of adapter that takes the receiver's HDMI out cable and outputs one optical out to the wifi transmitter and 1 HDMI out to the TV.

It works connected directly to the ps4. For the pc I haven't been able to get it to work cause the pc's optical out is 2ch only. No DDL due to a lack of licencing. I would need a dedicated sound card to get it to work. This is why I need to get the HDMI solution to work. IS it even possible to split the sound coming from HDMI and output it through optical out without any loss in sound. Something like this... https://www.dropbox.com/s/znusacbtcc9g50d/Sketch5016104.png
I might just get a new sound card or leave it the way it is for now.
