It appears our secret is coming out of the closet...in the most recent issues of both Game Informer and EGM, there are features on gaming with projectors. Game Informer focuses on the Screenplay 4805, while EGM gives a 2 page roundup of about 4-5 machines with some basics on projecting in general.

Both features are pretty much geared at total PJ beginners, with some misinformation about $1000 machines doing HDTV resolutions and such, aspect ratios, or that the sole difference between DLP and LCD is that DLP is cheaper...but the word is getting out regardless about the joys of playing on an 8ft display, and that's a good thing...

I read that unfortunately they didn't go into too many negatives with the exception of bulb life.
They did touch on Lumens a bit too.

Technically since I am on a samsung DLP I am at the mercy of a bulb as well.

I find though that a smaller but higher quality screen is still better than going larger than just for the sake of doing so,

I would much rather play on a 50 inch DLP or plasma than my X1 for more than a few reasons.

For now I find that to be the case as well. I play all my games on my Z!, but the only ones that are really worth it are the Hi-Def games. The next gen consoles will be perfect for PJ gaming because they will all do HD.

Don't think of it as screendoor, it's more like an infinite game of tic tac toe.

Agreed...my PJ is for Movies and HDTV primarily...solo gaming is done on the old 27"...but the PJ is nice if you're doing multiplayer split screen gaming. The novelty wore off gaming on the PJ pretty quick for me.
I don't get enough satisfaction over and above the tube TV out of it to justify the bulb cost.

I'm curious, did the articles mention us unfortunate folks who can't play first person games on super large screens without getting seasick?
