better be $0.99-ish pricing like Android/iOS have now, otherwise I suspect it'll just flop. Kung Fu Rabbit will be good test of this, it's $4.99 on Wii U but F2P on Android. I know ad supported is a no-no for the eshop, but you still have to compete if you want people to be interested...

Actually, either way it's going to look bad; Price mobile apps similarly to eshop/vc games and they're probably not going to sell as well as Ninty would like them to. Price them to compete with mobile OS pricing and the (meager) offering of VC games look overpriced at $5-8.

Shouldn't this conversation should be happening for 3DS instead?

Developers get to choose their own pricing on Wii U. So either way it is not entirely up to Nintendo. Even Angry Birds (at a higher resolution than on iOS) is $4.99 on the Mac App Store. No reason to think it would be cheaper than that on Wii U.

Makes sense to me. I wonder why the hell anyone would put a platformer on iOS, but they manage to sell.

New rumor, about as credible as the original hacker spec leaks, but they are saying the Wii U was overclocked (no longer underclocked?)

CPU is now 3.24GHZ
GPU is now 800MHZ

Grain of salt as the source is a forum post, but I would like to add the Wii U does have just enough overhead to allow a overclock of this level. It isn't impossible, just unlikely.

Either I'm supposed to believe they just *tripled* the clock speed via an overclock, or they released the system running at 33% of its capacity. Both are almost impossible to believe.

Or, the hackers that released the specs they found while in Wii mode were wrong. Those numbers were sketchy to begin with. There are too many unknowns to go off of right now.

I'm waiting for the people at Neogaf to tear into this before I classify it as anything more than a rumor.

I think the people at NeoGAF already did tear this rumor to shreds yesterday.
Towards the end of this thread.

I didn't read through it carefully, but the thread on this rumor got locked

EDIT: PPL say the Wii U does not have nearly enough cooling for a 3+GHz 3-core CPU, among other things.

I read through some of the posts after I made my post, they ruled out an overclock having happened, but the discussion about potential overclocks and the possibility that the Wii U is currently underclocked was quite interesting. Nintendo has plenty of headroom for a decent increase in clock speeds, just not this much.

I can't wait for Resident Evil to come out! This is the first must-have game of 2013 for the Wii U.

I fell in love with it while playing it on the 3ds xl. For some reason, Nintendo has had the best Resident Evil games ever since RE4 on the Gamecube. I still think that was the best RE of all time. Part 1 and 2 aren't too far behind though.

I'm also looking forward to playing watchdog.

Anyone else getting Revelations?

Lego City and Monster Hunter are the first must have games of 2013, Resident Evil Revelations is a multiplatform title, and while it is a fantastic game, calling it the first must have is a discredit to the other two I listed.

dude, Lego City is so underwhelming, I can't begin to even process the thought of it being labeled a must-have game. Monster Hunter is pretty good though.

Did you even make it to the Prison level? The cutscenes alone are worth playing for, but the game is so far removed from GTA that the only thing they have in common is an open world.

No, PEN is right. You have no soul. Saying Lego City is "GTA-like" is like saying Mario Sunshine is GTA-like because it has an open central hub island.

Lego City and Little Inferno are still the only reasons to own a Wii U.

The whole game of Lego City Undercover is fun but it's worth it alone for Frank Honey's dialog. The voice actor for that character should win an award for that game.

We clearly have opposing views on lego city. I personally think NSMB is THE reason to buy a Wii U. How is lego city more of a must buy than resident evil revelations? Sure it's coming out on all major systems, but the best experience will be with the gamepad since the orignal game was dual-screen.

And to say I have no soul because I don't like a lego game kinda makes you look like a drama queen...

I'm a giant Mario fan. I pretty much like all Mario games except Mario 2. That game is just way too hard to play without getting mad lol

Nsmb was my favorite game last year. I got all the star coins and passed all the special worlds. It was one of the funnest Mario games I've played to date. Not the best, but to me, it's up there

Revelations is a year and a half old game. You know what system it was meant to be played on? The 3DS. Plus, we all have a PS3/360 to play it on. Literally nothing about Revelations says "must play on Wii U".

"I personally think NSMB is THE reason to buy a Wii U"

Good game? Sure. But we all had just played NSMB2 a couple of months beforehand, plus NSMBU really doesn't add much to NSMB2/NSMBW aside from 720p. In a vacuum I'd say you have a solid case. Given the existence of Nintendo's other platforms? It was just another sequel that came out far too shortly after it's previous iteration.

YMMV of course but from what I've read NSMB U is generally regarded as having some of the best level design of the NSMB series. I'd agree it is "just more Mario," however you want to take that.

I'll probably be picking up Revelations at some point. I have a 3DS but a portable RE just holds no appeal to me. I like that the Wii U touchscreen means the port can be a giant, HD version of the original, whereas the 360/PS3 versions will lose something.

The Resident Evil Demo is up, and it is a complete disaster. There is an almost 40% deadzone programmed into the analog sticks (which are programed with digital responsiveness) making it the worst aiming controls I have ever played in a game. Stick to the 3DS version.

What I didnt like about NSB for the Wii was how the level design had to accommodate multiplayer, and I thought it really suffered from a single player perspective. I assume NSBU is the same?

Is there a Wiimote point & shoot option, a la Metroid Prime or the the Wii COD & Goldeneye titles? I've read that COD: BlOpsII for Wii U mimics the various control options found on the Wii COD games as well - Wiimote/'chuk or Classic (with or without GamePad) or Gamepad alone.

Of course with this RE based of the 3DS game, I could see them going GamePad only....

I hope not, and I see no option for Wiimote controls. Some people have said that the Pro Controller has less issues, but I do not have one to test this out with.
