The 3DS price-drop was a pretty radical move for Nintendo, since they almost never actually reduce the price of a going console. Instead, they bundle the living crap out of it. I fully expect them to do the same thing for the Wii U. Rather than reduce the price of the core device (though I no longer see that as an impossibility), the likelihood is much greater that we'll see some special bundles come out for the holidays, like a Wind Waker HD model in Green with a special version of the tablet, or one with extra stuff bundled with it.
Honestly, the Wii U's failures are primarily those of marketing and (as before) a lack of strong third-party releases. I hope they can turn it around, as the Wii U gets the most play in my house right now (in part due to off-screen play). Hell, if it had a bluray player and could run Crunchyroll and Vudu...well, it would reign supreme. Just being able to use it as my primary Plex player makes it king.
