Share data and dl games between wii u and wii?

Hello Nintendo peeps. Christmas is here and the kids got a new Wii U. Moved the old Wii to another tv. Was about to transfer data but it seems like I won't be able to play my downloaded games on the Wii anymore, once the transfer is complete... Is this true?? Hoping there is a way around this...any ideas appreciated, merry Christmas!

There's no official way around this. And I stress the word official...

Specifically, you can soft mod your Wii, do a full backup of the system memory (NAND), do the system transfer, then do a full restore of the system memory. I've done this myself and was able to keep copies on both systems. It is not for the faint of heart, though, especially if you have any qualms about bricking the original Wii. Please see various other sites (gbatemp.com) for explicit directions.
