Disappointing that the features list is obviously all related to standard controllers. So I am already skeptical as far as to whether they will implement Wii controlls in a good way, if at all.

Not every game needs motion controls. I'd rather have great traditional controls (classic controller/GameCube controller) than half-assed motion controls that only work sometimes.

I don't want another baseball game ever that uses traditional controls. Ever. I liked power pros, yes, but I can't even play it now becuase wii sports baseball is more fun. I just flat could never go back to traditional controls for baseball, bowling, or boxing.

Dying to know how the controls will be now that they've had over a year of Wii release to test. My only concern is pitching lefty with the wiimote and then switching it back to my right hand to field as I'm sure a nunchuk is a necessity for a more complex baseball game.

I just really think they will tack on bad controls. I sure hope I am wrong.

I just read an interview on gamespot and the person interviewed does say it is "full" of wii controls and you use both the wiimote and nunchuk. But he only talks about it for one paragraph and every time he is asked about features he immediately talks about the other versions and not a single word about how the wii handles it.

It is going to have minor league teams and even many of their stadiums so I am hoping they have memphis' stadium, as it is one of the best minor league stadiums around.

Link from Gamespot (see page 2).

Straight from the horses mouth the Wii version will utilize the uniqueness of the Wii-mote. Wii-mote and Nunchuck are supposed to be used for batting, pitching, baserunning, and fielding. We'll see how its implemented, but they are making the effort.

I knew they were supposed to be utilizing the movements, I just meant if they (2k sports) think the wii version is that good, they most likely wouldn't be using such specific control descriptions for standard controllers.

I sure hope it is good enough to be worth owning because I BADLY want a baseball game.

That link is how I did know the nunchuk would even be used. I don't see how that can work effectively either though because then you would have to swing with one hand I guess.

Well at least apparently you do swing the remote to hit the ball. But I don't see how, with a nunchuk involved... One hand swinging I guess.

Hmmm....it looks like to swing you just "flick the wrist"...that would make it work with Wii controls but I want realism...that won't cut it...I know fielding is too complex to only use the Wiimote but it would be nice to be able to disconnect the Nunchuk when batting and reconnect when out in the field...I know that sounds like a pain to have to switch back and forth but I'd be worth it to me...

You know pdawg, that's a great idea. I mean when you play real baseball you have to put on your glove (nunchuk). However, I think pitching with 2 controllers will be more difficult than hitting with 2.

I just don't understand how game developers can make such dumb decisions. When so many people without jobs in the field know it's a no brainer that you should swing it like in wii sports baseball. sigh. I guess in the year 645735675 we will have a good baseball game finally.

Agreed, but most any multi-platform game is going to need to have motion controls, or the Wii version will only sell to those few owners that only have a Wii.

Still have no clue how anyone can rather have traditional controls. The whole point of the Wii is to not have traditional controls. And the whole reason I thought it would be a good system to own is baseball, in fact.

How are you going to tell what runners to leadoff/steal and then what base to run to while doing a full-motioned baseball swing? It wouldn't work.

Yes it would. You would use the d-pad to determine which base and a button to make all advance or all return.

My only concern with swinging is how are we going to swing high, low, inside, etc. I'm sure the pitching will be ahead of the hitting for a while. Is the swing going to be that sensitive? Calibration will be a pain.

Thanks. Well it sounds somewhat promising. I still don't understand how you can "hold it like a bat" when you can only use one hand to swing though. So I don't know why they said that. I was hoping they would make it wehre you can increase running speed by shaking, so that's nice to hear.

Beyond ridiculous that so many features were taken out though. It should cost $40 with so many features left out! I don't care about the trading cards or even that much about online play, but if it has the memphis stadium for minor leagues on the other versions I am going to be mad that this wii version does not even have them.

By the way I forgot to mention a few days ago that I think someone should make an accessory for baseball games that use the nunchuk such as this one by having something (not necessarily looking like a bat, who cares what it looks like) where the nunchuk fits into it and THEN you could indeed swing it like a bat. I am sure there would be a way to do it.

They don't house the nunchuk though do they? I am tryingto think of some way where it would allow for swinging with 2 hands and also have the nunchuk as part of it. It just bugs me that I am going to have to swing with one hand with this game which defeats a lot of purpose of even having motion controls really.

Sigh. Someone said The Show got an 8.7 from ign. Sucks that all the good baseball games end up being on non-nintendo systems. I would be surprised if this one gets a 7.7 let alone 8.7.

I think past examples show this game is going to be terrible. Really disappointing sicne it's the only Wii choice. The fact that they didn't rush out copies to reviewers and they even lied that a demo for the other versions would be out in February shows they definitely don't want anyone to be able to review it before they can get a lot of people buying it the first few days.

It's happened almost every time a game for wii hasn't been reviewed within a couple days before its release.

No review of the Wii version in the new EGM. The Show usually scores better than 2k which is a surprise since their football (when existed) and basketball are superior to EA in a sports simulation (not arcade type, fanboys ). Of course Show is PS exclusive.

The MLB exclusivity license only applies to third parties. First party studios can contract with the MLB/PA so they can have correct likenesses and names.

It's happened almost every time a game for wii hasn't been reviewed within a couple days before its release.

Most of the complaints for MLB 2K7 were that the default slider settings led to very unrealistic games. This also caused problems playing online as you couldn't play ranked matches with custom slider settings (for hopefully obvious reasons). You could set the sliders to make very good games, at which point it hinged on how you felt about the execution of basic gameplay. I actually like MLB 2K7 quite a bit. I probably won't buy 2k8, but that's because I find I don't get my money's worth out of sports games in general, and I'm wising up.

Thanks for the clarification on the excusive rights setup.

Someone said they heard the controls suck in the wii version. If that is true, then 2ksports is just ridiculous. They already made two games for wii and they have no excuse to mess up the controls again.

Also it's weird that IGN has an article about minor league players in mlb 2k8 AND IT'S IN THE WIIS ECTION also even though minor league teams wont be in the wii version.

Like someone said on the official 2ksports site, the wii version should be way more than $10 less than other versions considering it has no minor leagues, no trading cards, no online play, and horrible graphics.
