This brings back a lot of MW1 and BF2 (deja vue) MP memories. Just hope they don't screw the pooch like IW with MW2 with PC gamers.

looks like pretty intense fire fights..atv looks fun to rip around in. I am just happy DICE didnt decide to go the P2P servers route instead of dedicated. They didnt sell out like other PC gaming developers lately

Probably not. Looks like 360, because of the 360 controller button assignments.

Looks like the 360 with the controls for accell and brake at the 1.06 min of the vid. But DICE/EA has stated the PC version would have more stuff then the console versions. What that means, I have no idea.

It'll come with a sweet "Xbox" sticker for your keyboard.

Wow, I haven't really looked forward to a game in a long time, but this looks like a lot of fun. I just hope you can fly helicopters and jets, like in BF2.

Currently testing 3D with Sammy DLP, shutter glasses, and HTPC

That's one of the reasons why I like to play the maps with bots, instead of humans.

They released the 3rd gameplay video a few days ago..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jrnm6...layer_embedded

Thinking about pre-ordering this game. I never played Bad Company, but I'm a big BF2'er, and I'm liking BF1943 on XBLA. I think I will get it for the PC, as I just enjoy the gameplay so much more using keyboard/mouse. If you pre-order the PC version from Gamestop, you get:

Quote:

The Battlefield Bad Company 2 Limited Edition comes with:
4 x Vehicle Warfare Unlocks
Improved Vehicle Armor – An Up-Armor package mounted on all vehicle types decreases the effect of both explosive and penetrating warheads, significantly improving vehicle survivability.
Vehicle Alternate Fire - Additional weapon packages mounted for the driver of all armored vehicles, greatly expands the range of targets the vehicle can successfully engage and destroy.
Vehicle Motion Sensor – Upgraded Sensor to locate enemy units in direct proximity to the vehicle.
Tracer Dart Pistol – Launched by compressed air, this magnetic dart attaches to any vehicle surface, allows friendly shoulder launched rockets to lock on to and track moving targets even beyond line of sight.
2 x Classic Battlefield 1943 Weapons
M1A1 Submachine Gun – Popular with Paratrooper and Commando units in WW2 for its rate of fire and stopping power the M1A1 is still seen in the hands of paramilitaries today. Reliable but heavy, this classic weapon is still a powerful force in the hands of a Battlefield Veteran.
M1911 Pistol – Adopted in 1911 by the US Army the M1911 saw heavy service in WW1, WW2, Korea and Vietnam. Highly customized M1911 are still favored by Special Operations forces for its reliability and the power of its large .45 caliber round

Reserve Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and get instant access to the AKS-74 assault rifle for multiplayer action. Firing over 650 rounds a minute, this silent but deadly little beauty will give you maximum pwnage over your friends and enemies. Available for online and in-store customers, while supplies last.

Reserve Battlefield Bad Company 2 and receive access to the PC multiplayer beta. Beta begins January 28th, 2010 and ends February 25, 2010. Available for online customers only while supplies last. Not available for in-store or in-store pickup orders.

Not bad for $50. Anyone else doing this?

I was just checking out the minimum/recommended requirements for this game, and I fear my ~5-6 year old system is showing its age. I've only upgraded the video card, which was about a year ago:

Nvidia nforce4 (Chaintech) Socket 939
AMD Athlon 64 3000+
ATI Radeon HD4670 512MB PCI-x (Sapphire)
2.0 GB RAM

Requirements are:

Minimum Frostbite PC Specifications for BFBC2 & BF1943
Processor: Core 2 Duo @ 2.0GHz
Main memory: 2GB
Graphics card: GeForce 7800 GT / ATI X1900
Graphics memory: 256MB
OS: Windows XP
Free HDD space: 15GB for Digital Version, 10GB for Disc Version (BFBC2); 10GB for Digital Version, 4GB for Disc Version (BF1943)

Recommended Frostbite PC Specifications for BFBC2 & BF1943
Processor: Quadcore
Main memory: 2GB
Graphics card: GeForce GTX 260
Graphics memory: 512MB
OS: Windows Vista or Windows 7
Free HDD space: 15GB for Digital Version, 10GB for Disc Version (BFBC2); 10GB for Digital Version, 4GB for Disc Version (BF1943)

I don't know how my video card equates with those listed, and I'm also wondering since I don't have a dual-core processor, if that will hurt me. The last "modern" game I installed was COD:MW, and with some tweaking it was able to run pretty well. What are your guys thoughts?

"AMD Athlon 64 3000+"
"2.0 GB RAM"

Ebay up a 939 Athlon X2 4200+ or greater and throw in another 2GB of RAM. Your system would suddenly be surprisingly current.

A quick scan of Ebay shows 4200's for Buy It Now @ $65 and picking up a pair of DDR400 1GB stick of RAM off Newegg should be no more than $40.

EDIT: Ouch. DDR400 got expensive at $65 for a 2x1GB kit. Still, ~$140 to upgrade to something rather modern? Probably quite worth it.

Thanks. I'll start out with the x2 processor and see how things go.

I just realized that by pre-ordering in-store, I'm not going to get in on the PC beta, as it's an on-line only thing. Hopefully Gamestop will refund my $10 pre-order deposit?

This isn't that big of deal. This says no personal dedicated servers. I would rather play on a server provided from a GCP anyway (myinternetservices, wolfservers, etc.) I don't think I have ever played on a self-hosted server anyways on BF2 or 2142. This isn't anything to be concerned about.

Modding tools? Who cares? Custom maps in COD were fun because the vanilla ones were so small. I never cared for any BF2 mods anyway.

This stuff is not big news.

Oh it is big news my friend. They promised player mods and dedicated servers, and without it it's no better than MW2. I might have to pass, I haven't decided yet.

As an owner of a 4400+, I can say that no, your system would not be surprisingly current. It's an ancient CPU and definitely struggles with any game a year or two old. I don't think it will run BC2 well at all.

And I have it paired wit ha 4850, by no means a slouch of a card (the CPU is holding the card back). I recommend just starting over.

I think you're confused. This is the same policy DICE has had since BF2. To play on ranked servers, you had to play on "official servers," which are servers hosted by authorized server providers. Nobody played on unranked servers hosted in some kid, so DICE probably figured there's no point opening up a security hole by distributing the hosting software for a feature nobody used. There was no mods on ranked BF2 servers either. There's really no difference here except there will be no unranked servers, which is fine because nobody ever played on unranked servers. You only have to pay if you want your own dedicated server that you can mess around with and do whatever you want.

So, unless you personally operate a server, this wont affect you.
