I think I'm in the camp that won't get a lot out of this game. I was never very interested in the first place. It has cool ideas and tech, and I think it should not have been a $60 game. I thought it was supposed be a $15-30 game to start, then when awards started gushing out and pre-orders started it was $60.

It's probably worth $15.

I love exploration games. Especially interactive ones like this one is purported to be. But the awful reviews, glitches and crashes have me spooked. I'll wait for an inevitable $4.99-$8.99 Steam sale (likely soon now) to give it a peek.

Alright, I am going to throw in my .02 on No Man's Sky. I have been eagerly awaiting this game for PC since it heard it was coming out. I love a good space game and from what I saw of this one it seemed to have something about it that I think would draw me in. So far in the last two days I have put in 18 hours of time and even called in one day of work (was actually not feeling well, but it was a great excuse to play the game more as well!) Needless to say I am pretty happy with the game overall, but there are some issues with the game as well. One of the problems I hate is the inventory management. I feel they missed a few things with how we have to craft items for some parts, but yet we are not able to stack those items into one slot to take up less room in either our exosuit inventory or ship inventory. The controls for flying need some work, they feel loose at times when flying around on the planet and I often leave the atmosphere to easily. (I am using mouse and keyboard, not sure if a controller would be better). For me I am also having some texture issues and some framerate issues with my 290X with the game running at 2560x1080 with option set to high on everything and textures on Ultra. For the most part the FPS stays up there around 50-60FPS, but it drops now and then. Lastly the storyline is vague and the game doesn't hold your hand much (at least I didn't think so). I like this approach since it lets me use my imagination to make up my own little story as I am out exploring. I do like there are a few ways to play the game (Trader, Miner, Pirate, explorer) and for the most part I have been doing the mining/explorer which works pretty well where I do not feel like I am always farming for credits since I am also working on my Language skills (Really bummed we do not learn swear words!) for the different alien species. Overall I'd give this game a 7.5 out of 10. I don't feel it is as bad as others are saying, but I also wasn't following it to closely other then when it was supposed to come out so not sure if I'm mad something is not in there that was suppose to be there from talk before the games release.

My tip for starting out. Upgrade your Multi-tool for mining quicker and farm the **** out of those Emeril deposits for some quick coin

Just picked both of these up for 3.50, they look like fun. I also remember playing the arcade version several decades ago

Stardock titles are on sale this weekend.
Ashes of the Singularity is 66% off and is around $13 which is a great price. Excellent game to do some benchmarking with DX 12

I know I'm late to the party on this one, but I've been enjoying the heck out of Shadows of Mordor the past couple of weeks. I bought it on PS4 a long time ago and for some reason didn't get into it much. Wound up picking it up for $5 for PC and once I got past the few hour or two, I've been having a blast. Great visuals and sound too!

I recently picked up Mad Max super cheap and also got Skyrim so I could get the enhanced version free. I'm having issues with Skyrim right now. Whenever I look diagonal the screen does some weird stair step motion like it can't smoothly go diagonal, it goes down then over down then over. It's not a CPU/GPU issue. I'm running a 390x and even with resolutions and graphics turned way down, no mods, etc the issue is still there. Hopefully it gets fixed with the enhanced version.

Wife is playing NMS ...she seems to like it so far........but from what I have seen it is not a $60.00 game. Should have been priced more like a Indy game which is really what it looks like. I fear any future projects Sean Murray and co might have in sight might be in trouble given the negative backlash over what seems to be obvious deceit and misleading". Then again Peter Molyneaux was able to keep going on much longer than I expected so anything is possible.

She does complain alot about bugs and what appears to be a memory leak of some sort. About 20-30min in all the sudden game goes from smooth to literally 3-5FPS at best......only fix is to kill and restart.

I have not played but from watching her the UI seems really bad and amateur to me. Sometimes she will tap the key to take off but instead end up launched into orbit or beyond instantly.

Have not seen her do much 'combat' but it sure does seem like managing 'resources' during combat with the UI would be frustrating to say the least.

Yeah...it's a bit of a mess.

Haven't played it a in a few days to a week now. Very little to no incentive to keep playing the game, unfortunately. Gonna maybe wait and see if new features are added or more interesting mods come out.

For now....Deus Ex has got me hooked.

Yeah, kinda surprised people play NMS much past 4 or 5 hours. I would have been bored to tears after hours of gathering and so called "discos" only to realize neither I nor anyone else would ever see that last planet I was at ever again.

This type of extreme "sandbox" game just not my cup of tea. I need for it to have some minimal amount of story or developer driven goal.

Spoiler!

Heads up for those that like character-based platform games -- you have one day left to grab Sega's Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse remake for only $2.24 on Steam.

Sega's licensing is expiring, but if you get it now you can re-download it after Sept. 2, just not purchase it.

At first I thought this was the original Sega Genesis 2d platformer (which I sucked at!), but actually it's a very well-done "2.5D" remake. Thankfully easier than the original, although still a challenge. If you like run/jump/throw platformers, highly recommended at this price!

Done! It looks great at 4K and my son and I played it for about an hour already.
Thanks for the heads-up, I would have missed it for sure.

Anyone play or try Redout?

I'm itching for low-gravity arcade racer like this, and the reviews are good. That price though - I'm sure it will drop or be on sale soon, but I kinda want it now.

I was just looking at it yesterday, it looks really good but I am going to wait until it's <$20 because I remember my love/hate relationship with Wipeout.

I decided to give Redout at try. It's good, but not the amazing racer I was hoping for. Feels like a nicely polished (and tough) indie game, but not seeing much more in it.

VR owners might have fun with it, or maybe barf while playing...? I'll bet the VR support is why this game is $35. But as a non-VR player, I wish I had paid <$20.

Definitely wait for a sale.

Saw you picked it up. Hadn't heard of it but it looks like a decent-ish WipeOut clone. I dig that.

If you have Bioshock and/or Bioshock II in your Steam library, you can now download the new Remastered versions as separate games.

Enjoy!
