I saw that too...then I saw you jump into TF2, but you got placed on the other team.

TF2 seems to be tough getting into the Valve servers - I've only seen about 12 of them in the list, and they're almost always full.

I'll probably jump into the Borderlands this weekend too.

According to an article on IGN, it is now official that BF3 will not be available as a download through steam. It will be offered through Gamestop's new download service as well as other as of yet unnamed download services.

With this news, I'll probably just end up ordering the disc version through Amazon if they do a good deal or picking it up at Gamestop or something.

The disc version makes most sense when Steam is not an option. Just register it through Origin and you then have the benefit of discless installation/playback while having the physical copy.

Yeah, it's looking like I would get the disc from Amazon too if I were to get it. I'm still waiting to see if it is, indeed, worthwhile of my moneyz.

I'll buy BF3 on 360. Unlike Bad Company 2 though, I won't buy it again on PC if it's not on Steam.

That's pretty much my thought too, these days. It's just too convenient for me to have everything in one program.

That being said, I do wish I could be logged onto the Steam client on multiple PCs. Not to play games on multiple PCs at the same time, I fully understand that (though it would be nice to be able to have two DIFFERENT games playing on different computers). However, when I log in on my main gaming / HTPC, I usually end up leaving Steam idle when I'm done with my game. If I log in on my laptop it kicks me off on the HTPC, and then forces a password reentry, which is a pain on that computer.

I'd rather it left both logged in, but maybe just let the idle one not launch any games.

Agreed about Steam.

I planned on preordering BF3, but the more I think about it, the more I want to wait and see. I'm not sure how the "new" destruction will work out and the way things have been with new releases, I wouldn't be surprised if the game was discounted $20 two weeks after launch. I would miss out on the Back to Karkand pack, but IIRC, there's no release date planned for it just yet, and I could always pick it up when it's on sale for 50% off or something. I bought Vietnam for $15 after most of my friends already got their jollies from it. Two weeks later, it was on sale for $7.50. Still rarely play it. GRR!!!

Same here but ... now I have doubts. Sucks even more that I am such a fan of the series.

Then you have a day like yesterday where you can't access any games because the service is glitched. No thanks, I'll buy from whoever has the best deal. If it's Steam, then I'll buy from them. If it's someone else, then they get my business. The old saying "Don't put all of your eggs in one basket." still holds true today.

The good thing about so many people being loyal to a single digital distribution service is that it makes its users more confident in the long-term about their purchased game licenses. But, it is good to have just enough competition with the likes of Origin and Direct2Drive to keep Valve in check and compel the company to continue improving its service.

I'm not a BF die hard, so I'll pick it up when there's a good enough deal that warrants it. Wait and see allows them to work out the bugs and allows me to read the reviews. I decided I wasn't going to buy MW2, and after reading all the nonsense with that game, I'm glad I didn't waste my cash.

Grid is $5 on Steam today. Apparently, the proceeds are going to charity too.

Thought I recalled seeing someone in here looking for this during the summer sale.

Wow, I know it's not ONLY a Steam game, but this free-to-play game "Spiral Knights" on there is pretty damn addictive.

It's free, except you can buy energy for real money. Otherwise, you get 100 "Mist Energy" per 24 hours, and it costs 10 energy to enter a level. You also need more energy for crafting weapons, but you can also buy more energy for in-game money, so it's definitely doable without paying (though it gets more difficult as you try to get equipment higher than 2 stars).

Anyway, I've been playing that a ton the past few days, it's really good. It's basically an MMORPG hack and slash game, where you enter each level of the dungeon in a group of 4.

I actually had that issue a little last night as well, which was weird because I hadn't experienced it up to that point.

spiral knights is great, i've got about 5 days in game time, and i went ahead and purchased the starter pack.... if anyone is looking for the starter pack at $17 instead of $20, shoot me a pm.... there has been a little bit of lag, they're running hourly giveaways and there are tons of people cluttering the servers and idling in hopes to win some prizes.

also run a dedicated terraria server, though i've had it down for the past week since we've all been playing spiral knights.

all the xbox regulars add me to steam (sundull, infrasonic, harpua, etc)my steam id and forum name are one in the same... also go by halt_hammerzeit on steam.

been recently playing:
Spiral Knights (free)
Terraria
L4D2
Alien Swarm (free)
TF2 (free)
Monday Night Combat
Beat Hazard

So I decided to get my Portal 2 Co-Op done the past few days. Why does everyone who plays plays Portal 2 Co-op insist on no clipping and cheating through the whole thing. I keep dropping out because the games co-op seems overrun by 11 year old boys who keep saying "look at me I can float do you know how to float mister?"

Some jack ass helped get me to the end of one level only to keep jumping off the ledge for a good 5 minutes saying that, "You can't finish it without me".

I guess I'm too late to the co-op to get in with the good people. Are they releasing some DLC for this game? It's really amazing!

You need someone that hasn't played it before to co-op with. Otherwise the other person gets really bored, hence your experience. I'd love to play it with you, but I couch co-op'd it with a buddy on PS3. Now I need a person that has been through it and is just looking to hunt for secrets and admire the scenery.

Thanks man. I'm almost finished with it. I've bumped into 3 guys who are in the same boat as me. I'm really impressed with the coop it really is a whole new game. Makes the Portal 2 package an even bigger value!

By the way Batman: Arkham Asylum is $7.50 today. If you haven't played that yet everyone you must check it out! I beat it on my PS3 but I picked it up for the PC today. I'll give it another go before the sequel hits.

I only played the first two levels, but today's daily deal, Capsized ($3.39) is pretty entertaining so far. A little difficult, but I've enjoyed the first two levels.

Aiming with a controller is a little difficult too. Left joystick moves and the right aims the gun, but there seems to be no aim assist at all, and the default weapon fires a very thin projectile.

The developers recommend not using a gamepad for the first playthrough when you enable the option anyway, but I've been preferring to use my 360 controller for most non-FPS (and even some FPS) play lately. Nowhere on a couch to use a keyboard and mouse.

There is a Bethesda/id Software sale going on with three multi-game packaged sales and Quake 4 has been added to Steam for $20 by itself.

That pack is extremely well priced $70 for that? Those games could keep you busy for a year or more.

Sadly, I already bought most of that stuff on Steam a while back for a bit more in separate packages. I'm sitting pretty at over 100 Steam titles thanks to the Summer Sale.

Such is the nature of Steam. You buy so much for so little, yet you wish you could take some of those purchases back to get them for even cheaper. Prices get so low that games may as well be given away.

I was wondering how long it would take for Quake IV to reach Steam ever since Bethesda got publishing rights. The DVD version with the latest patch doesn't require the disc to play, but I'll probably get the Steam version when it's something like $5. It is one of the better modern linear FPS games out there.
