I'd wait to see how good and/or awful it is, first.

Yeah, I’m not all too enthused by any of the preliminary footage. It was hyped as this large scale, ultra-fast experience with general design mechanics that hark back to the original, but instead appears to be just another bland looking shooter. Also, those up-close “finishers” seem to get tiring real fast.

I hope I’m dead wrong, though.

I hope so too but right now it looks like Doom3 2016 with Quake3 2016 multiplayer. Woo.

Rather keep on playing the MUCH superior Brutal Doom. I'll play that forever.

Played the multiplayer alpha. Whole time I felt like I was playing Quake again. But honestly, who buys Doom for multiplayer? I want to see how the single player feels.

Picked up Devil May Cry. Unable to cycle through the main menu. Game works but camera angle is stuck looking upwards from my characters feet. Oh the joys of PC gaming

Ok, Problem solved for the few games not working my xbox controller. I found that if I added the dinput8.dll file into the game.exe folder then the game would recognize the controller with no problems. Now I can play Killer is Dead, Shadow Complex (redone with updated graphics and using DX11), Devil May Cry, and Mighty No. 9. I think there were a few other games that had issues, but now I know how to fix them. *Happy Dance*!!

If you're into horror, check out Layers of Fear. Right now it's in Early Access but the full/complete game is being released February 16, 2016.

What's the deal with Elite Dangerous? Seemed like it was the game to get when I heard about it but looking at Steam it has "mixed" reviews. I'm thinking of picking it up on the steam sale for 15 bucks. Not getting the DLC right now though.

It's hit and miss for some people. I like it and got the expansion. Most reviews I read were Abbott the pricing and how they were doing the expansion.

It's a fairly polished game right now. No major issues and unlike star citizen it runs without having to powerful of a rig.

I find Elite Dangerous to be an expansive universe, with very little to actually do. If you are going to enjoy flying from planet to planet being a trader, or flying around in hyperspeed, seeing an "unidentified signal" with no clue of what it is, jumping out of hyperspeed just to find out that it's a transport ship passing by, then maybe you'll like it.

I exaggerate a little, but after I figured out how to land successfully, the game stopped being fun to me. There's mining, trading, bounty hunting, and even piracy, but it takes so much grinding to be able to do any of those well that it wasn't worth it to me. I haven't really played around with the Horizons expansion that lets you land a rover on planets though.

DAMN. Now I'm right back where I started. lol
So jhoff does it eventually get going at any point?
Arutha is jhoff correct about the game in it's entirety? I see you have the expansions. I'm not looking to pick those up at the moment. Would the core game be worth it on it's own?

I liked the core game. There is cqc (close quarter combat) you can do as well for more pvp. The game can be played solo or multiplayer.
The game is fun in that there are many different roles toot can do, but at the same time if you want a big ship it will take some grinding.

I love just hauling **** strong and exploring. It's not a game I play every week, but when I do I lose a few hours easily on it

That's my thinking. Instead of going out tonight and boozing it up I could easily spend the 15 bucks on this and even if it's meh then it's a win.
It's supposed to get ridiculously cold here in the coming days. Would be nice to have something new to play while being holed up. Even though I still have one of my prior steam sale games yet unplayed.

Ok, just picked up the newest Batman AK, and Dreamfall Chapters, an old but popular game I never got the chance to play. DreamFall looks like it should have a really good story and looking forward to that.

Well I went ahead and got Elite Dangerous. I'll have to wait until late tomorrow though to play it. Gotta be in NY at 5am so that gives me about 4 hours of sleep from this point.
