I don't think it's the "new" one you are wanting though.

Is Assassin's Creed III a good deal at $13.59? It's on sale through Gamefly this weekend. Never played any of the previous games but the colonial setting interests me.

That's the best deal on the game I have seem so far. I have played and finished (and enjoyed) all of the AC games except for this one. This deal is tempting.

I really don't need to add another game to my already significant backlog but it may be hard to resist at this price smile.gif

I would say yes, but it takes some left turns for the series. Also, the PC version isn't quite as optimized as it should be, so don't expect to crank up the graphics and get 60fps unless you have a beast of a system. But dial it back a bit, it runs, looks, and plays well.

It's a triple-A title that uses it's setting and characters well, so at this price it's worth a shot.

I think we have almost the same hardware. What settings were you using with AC3? Does it have a good SLI profile? I know the game supports TXAA but heard it is a big performance drain.

I used the nVidia GeForce experience settings to get in the ballpark, but I think there's certain sections that would occasionally slow down below 50fps. A tad distracting, so I dialed it back a bit.

It does have an SLI profile, TXAA, and DirectX11, so that helps.

Good luck! I'm on the last chapter, I need to finish that game at some point. redface.gif

Thanks! I've used GeForce experience for some games as well but it seemed to have trouble with certain Ubisoft games like Far Cry 3.

Nice - I got both Jet Set Radio and NiGHTS into Dreams combo for a little over $3 with that coupon. Thanks! smile.gif

EDIT: Gah, both are locked at 30fps. frown.gif Probably should have passed, but oh well - it was cheap.

Amazon seems to be trying to move away from Steam keys. The more I look at their sales, the less often the Steam version is included, or even offered.

If I wasn't currently playing Alpha Protocol, I'd grab the $13 Assassin's Creed 3 Steam key. Otherwise, I've already got what they have on offer, or it's not Steam.

I'll wait for the legendary to be $10 or less. I have historically not liked every bethesda rpg game. I can't see skyrim being any different. I'm also a glutton for punishment because I keep buying them and then not playing them because I don't like them.

I was the same way. I had all the prior Morrowind RPG games, and only would play them for about 10 hours and lose interest. Skyrim, however, sucked me in. It just seems more accessible. The open world is awesome. There is no pre-loading of areas (unless you fast travel), it looks great (especially with some graphic mods), and has a huge mod community that makes it very easy to install mods. I ended up with over 250 hours in the game, which is a first for any RPG game in my case. I did enjoy the Fallout 2 games too though, but I liked Skyrim much more. The Skyrim graphics engine is so much better. I believe that Bethesda is going to use an upgraded version of the Skyrim/Creation graphics engine for the next Fallout. Should be pretty cool.

Couple of hours into Skyrim, it feels empty, big and empty, and the combat is like Breakdown. Doesn't feel like that heap of crap Fallout 3 though. After playing through The Last of Us with headphones on Skyrim sounds like crap.

There are tons of great mods for Skyrim. Go install a few (especially the texture mods and menu mods) and have a blast. If you don't find something to do in Skyrim you're not looking hard enough, I invested >200hrs into that game before I tired of it.

I'm playing and not being Fallout 3 is really helping. There's plenty to do for sure. Seems the combat isn't as technical as Dark Souls.

It's just quiet is all. TLoU is in an urban setting so you get all the echoes and trash rattling. Skyrim has similar in the caves.

At the end of the day though TLoU sound design was superior to a lot of games. The audio menu options alone were staggering.
