As if it wasn't enough that Steam delivers packages of great mega-deals several times a year, their latest plan to hijack what's left in your wallet comes in the form of Daily Deals. Every 24 hours, a new game will be discounted, meaning that you now have to fight the urge to check in with them every. single. day.

The first one up is 75% off Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising.

urgh, Damn you steam!!! I just bought DS2 when it was on sale, not to bad I must say. At least they fixed the way the mouse used to lag.

I've been thinking about a funny scenario where Valve cut to the chase and sold every single game on Steam in one package at 50% off.

Don't we already have a Steam thread, called "The Steam Thread", where we already talk about Steam related stuff, such as deals and community?

What I hope they do is give a heads up at least two days before each sale so there is time for people to hear about a deal without checking every day. It's unlikely though since it'll mean zero sales for that game for 48 hours.

Looks like we got Sniper: Ghost Warrior on sale today. Any good? For five bucks, I will definitely buy it if it's good but I'm seeing some bad press for it.

I tried the demo when it 1st came out. I didn't buy it and that's from a die hard camper. Major complaint is there are a lot of invisible walls in the game and you can not move as freely as you might want. Some cheasy bullet cam effects. Hide and seak most of the time which I didn't mind but once AI sees you then they tend to lock on in most cases unless you run away.

That sounds about right with what I read. It's a pretty looking game though. I guess I'll just tide myself over with the older military games I picked up recently in the retail value bin.

I made my first SDD purchase today: Tales of Monkey Island. It's all five episodes for $12 (regular price, $35). As a fan of the first two MI games back in the day, I hear this one is the best release in the series since then.

Just a heads up pre-order the new red faction and get red faction 1, 2, and Guerilla for free.

I guess they added the other 2 titles today?

A couple of days ago. They also have RF1 & 2 for $2.50 each and RF:G for $5 for the weekend. Had to pick up Guerrilla for that price. I liked the 360 demo of Armageddon, but after reading that it's a corridor shooter like the first two I'm going to wait for a price drop.

Yeah, I had to grab Guerrilla for that price too. If it was $7 or $8, I would have probably let it pass, but at a 5 spot, it's hard to pass on. Heck, these days, a fast foot combo costs more than $5.

Generally my thought on this as well. I did pass on Dirt for $2.50 yesterday because I just don't get much enjoyment from racing games anymore.

I would have bought DiRT had I known about it. The one day I don't happen to check on the Daily Deal and it's DiRT for $2.50. Actually, it's probably a good thing I missed out on it, because I heard people complaining how DiRT isn't compatible with Windows 7. Maybe there is a patch or something, but if it won't work at all with Windows 7, then that would suck.

Apparently it 's more a multi-threading + Win 7 issue. According to the steam forums there's a very simple fix.

Also, check out didimatic.com for keeping on top of sales. They have a good rss feed you can add to whatever reader you use. Shockedfish.com works well, too, and tracks more sites. I just don't like it's presentation format very much.

I cry shenanigans! Something doesn't smell right...doesn't smell right at all.

Wouldn't a developer want his game in any and all possible outlets as possible let alone the PREMIER download service with 10+ million active users!??!

I understand about competition, but all these different digital distribution platforms are a pain in the rear. Do we really need each company to sell only their games in their store? I predict it will get worse before it gets better.

I personally hope Valve continues to be the leader in this market.

It would be annoying to have multiple bloated digital distribution clients running in the background. This is one area where I greatly prefer a unified architecture.

Oh wait here comes Activision and Ubisoft to launch their own clients...I can see it now. These companies are the ones killing pc gaming Like how is the PC platform suppose to appeal to newcomers. With so many clients and bloatware to install, inorder to start enjoying their games.

I cringe at the idea of an Ubisoft client. Their long history of awful DRM and leaving games behind with lack of support does not bode well for them trying something of this nature.
