Being as I had purchased Borderlands on Steam some time ago I have access to the DNKF demo. Overall it's kind of fun, the graphics are about what you'd expect from a game over 11yrs in development (mediocre at best), with plenty of gratuitous sex and gross-out moments to be had.

This one is definitely a Steam sale title for me.

Do you have access to the multiplayer with the demo? Also how are the FPS they should be easy if the graphics are bad but who knows.

Unfortunately there is no multiplayer in the demo. I get the feeling after playing they took sort of a "let's get this out already, somebody will buy it" attitude. It's not bad, it's just that the demo was pretty short.

Unless the multiplayer is stellar, based on the demo I might spend $15 on the game, not much more than that.

Is there any word as to when this might go public for 360/ps3 owners?

Yeah it's pretty much what I expected - middle of the road shooter, totally not worth 50$ but for say $20 or so, I'd grab it.

Right click on your Borderlands install in steam library then goto view DLC content. The DNF first access club thing is there which contains a serial no use here http://www.dukenukem.com/access rest of the details are on that page.

The demo is censored anyways. If CG bjs with 4yr old character models floats your boat, then this one's for you (it didn't do much for me).

I was disappointed in the Demo. Maybe the excitement about Duke returning clouded my thoughts about the game play. It was just OK for me. I cancelled my pre-order with Amazon and will wait for fire sale. The 2 weapon load out sucks and well as no health packs. The console influences are too much for me to deal with. I had no issues with FOV or mouse lag. It ran a solid 60 FPS @ 2560 x 1600 with ultra setting, vsync on and SLI profile created by me.

I saw this coming 6 years away...that given the anticipation and the hype it was going to fall flat on it's face. People have moved on. The same thing happened with Spore...super hype, excitement, etc. Game was mediocre at best.

It's not even about hype, it's about the game just not being good.

You can only carry two weapons at a time? It works for tactical shooters and Halo, but it isn't what you would want in a Duke Nukem game.

I played the 360 demo, and knew it was in trouble the first time the shrink ray is introduced. The pig aliens are rushing with guns blazing, and while the ray shrinks them, their guns continue to blaze. A pretty worthless weapon IMO.

Would have been a mediocre game 5 years ago, but just doesn't hold up at all today.

Sad, but exactly what I expected, I am just so board silly of bad multiplayers and millions of realistic shooters that are all close to exact clones of each other I was almost desparate enough to purchase this hoping that some sort of competitive multiplayer would spring out of it.

......lets face it, we are talking about a game who's last great impact was during the BUILD3D days, when the huge claim to fame of DUKE was how much of an improvement it was over WOLFENSTEIN 3D.

Lets be real here.......best we can hope for is a very lengthy campaign and old school multiplayer deathmatch with laser trip mines and jetpacks :P

That or Doom, but yea, pretty much. Even the "return of Duke" isn't very exciting to me, since he was only in one really good game.

Check out the 2001 trailer... if that game came out in 2001, or even 2002, it would have been mind-blowing. That game coming out in 2011 is just irrelevant.

That would still be too much IMO.

I didn't realize what an important improvement snap-to-target is to modern FPS. I'm talking when you looking at the direction of the target and hit the button to look down the gunsight (left trigger on consoles), it assists with a little auto-aim. I can't live without that now.

I could live without the Halo auto-heal. Duke had health-packs, right?

I am thankful they released the demo before the retail product!

Ah, you miss the iron sight mode.......yeah without it you do have to go back to playing old school shooter...spray n pray...then again, HALO and its alien-shooting ilk didn't have it did they? And this is that kind of game, to me...

All the Halo games are in a different league than Duke Forever. Doom 3 is a 100 times better.

Borderlands has such a good shooting engine and does that "iron sight" mode well. I was really surprised Gearbox didn't get the shooting right in DNF. I guess the aging version of the Unreal engine they had to work with couldn't be updated that late in the production schedule.

But I did play the console version, so maybe the PC version with mouse/keyboard is better?

Yes, Duke Nukem 3D had health packs. It also let you carry more than two main weapons at a time.

I find it funny that a game that pokes a little fun at Halo transformed the series to be like that game in a couple of key aspects. Halo did have health packs for main health, but the armor did regenerate.

Regenerating health and limited to two weapons at a time.

Face palm of the century! *sigh* Did Gearbox ever play Duke Nukem before?

I played the demo and then went to Amazon and cancelled my pre-order before it was too late.

Maybe when it comes to Steam on a $5.00 weekend sale but that would be a stretch even then.

i got a chance to try it last night. I actually don't mind it. Now I knew going in I would probably find some of it stupid. It's not COD, HALO or any of their 1000 clones, but that is what I like it about it so far. Duke is supposed to be chessy. On the PC the graphics aren't that bad at all. Is it Crysis? hell no. Pay full price for it? well I personally feel that 98% of games released today with their 8 hour campaigns aren't worth their full price anyways so this is no different there.
