Definitely geared up for a 1Q 2014 release, so says Eurogamer.

Quote:
Rockstar will release a PC version of Grand Theft Auto 5 in 2014, Eurogamer understands.

Multiple industry sources have indicated the open world game, currently available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, will come out on PC in the first quarter of 2014.

I am resisting the urge to buy this game. I feel like Jim Carey as Ace Venture trying to keep his ass from talking to Tone Loc.

I'm more like Stimpy and I couldn't resist hitting the big red button. Bought on Xbox and will GLADLY buy again for the PC.

Yeah, I'm playing it on the Xbox as well. I'll probably eventually buy it on the PC though, (on sale, that is) in case I ever want to go back to it, because I doubt I'll still have my Xbox 360 connected 5 years down the line or whatever.

Plus, I'd have to think on a fast SSD you'd have no issues with geometry pop-in. On my 360, I'm doing it the correct way of playing from a disc (I've tried from USB too), and if I get a really fast car or motorcycle, I still sometimes get railings that appear after I've crashed into them (though more rarely than when I tried installing both discs, obviously).

I have no problem waiting for the expected PC release, whenever that will actually occur.

Looking at gameplay videos, I am very impressed by what the developers were able to do with current generation console hardware. The PC version should be stunning.

Hopefully we get high-res textures. And hopefully it's much better optimized than GTAIV was. And also hopefully it isn't as much of a mess to install it as GTAIV was with the R* Social Club or whatever plus GFWL and whatever else...though at least we know for sure we won't have to deal with GFWL. lol

Hopefully it'll work decently in 3D, though I'm not holding my breath.

GTA is one of my favorite series but I've been waiting patiently for this PC release.

I'll get it on PC if and when it comes with a bunch of DLC I can buy in a package on Steam. Same for 360.

I am wondering if the PC release is going to be around the same time as the PS4 and Xbox One release. And if so, all three systems will basically share all of the graphic enhancements/improvements and optimizations. I was thinking that is another reason why the PC version will be delayed, although the PC versions of this series are always delayed.

Current estimate from "numerous sources" is April, or sometime in Q1 2014.

All rumor of course, but it makes sense with the typical timeline of GTA PC releases.

Anyone pre-ordering this game on the PC, you have my gratitude for your paid participation in the latest Rockstar beta program.

Oh, to the person asking if the game will run in 3D........man...that's a good one biggrin.gif

I think for this game at launch "Getting a 2D framerate in the double-digits" might be more of a goal.......

The older games had some bad ports but at this point (besides gfwl) gta4 is fine. No AA support but who cares once gta5 comes out.

My 4.8Ghz i7 and dual 670's can't maintain 60fps in that game at 1080p.......exit room..180fps....hit street...48fps..turn one direction....67 fps...turn another way...52 fps...walk 10 steps....44 fps...then 98 fps.....sometimes I just lock it at 30 and get over it.

I'm sure this release will be no different, and I'll get the PC release in a year's time or two at $14.99 with DLC when its been all patched up.

Hopefully by then my dual TITAN II's and 6.66Ghz GPU will be able to push 1080p/60. smile.gif

Maybe I'm just used to terrible frame rates. tongue.gif

Seriously though the RAGE engine has been further optimized since and I doubt it will be as bad of an issue with Five. Have you played Max Payne 3? The engine is much better though admittedly the levels are not as large.

Holy crap! Your minimum frame rate in GTA IV is 44 fps??? That's awesome lol!

GTA IV is a game where even at 60fps....it really doesn't feel like its updating at 60fps, something about the engine...maybe the sprite effects run at 15fps or something..SOMETHING in the engine...the shadows...something....something feels wrong about that game at speed biggrin.gif

Anyways, lets hope GTA V breaks the cycle.

I play GTAIV in 3D with no performance issues. 60fps most of the time. 720p 3D, GTX 560 Ti, i5 2500. The key might be that shadows are off, as they're broken and unfixable in 3D.

Rather than performance, I expect GTAV won't work in 3D because generally DX11 games have a lot of issues, and they're very difficult for users to fix at this time (as opposed to DX9). Nvidia came out with a post processing "fake" 3D option for DX11 games this week. That will probably be useable, but I would probably prefer 1080p 2D.

I think, perhaps, running in 720p mode with shadows off is the kicker there. This game is heavily CPU bound and going SLI with my dual nvidias brings almost nothing to the table. I believe newer versions of the i7 architecture can actually run this game much better than my Ivy Bridge.

I'll consider doing some benchmarks with the game at 720p, 1080p, and 1600p (super sampling)......

Note that 720p 3D means the PC renders two unique 720p images. That's roughly equivalent to rendering a single 1080p (2D) image as far as performance is concerned. My hardware isn't top of the line, as I listed above.

Yes, I'm aware of the HDMI limitations......can you run the game at 720p in 2d with shadows enabled and maintain that performance?
