I'll probably end up buying one of these if a bigger one in the ~$1500 range doesn't come out in the near future.

The 4K displays 1-2 years from now are the ones you want to buy with DisplayPort 1.3 and better panel tech along with GSync.

You would need a new TV and a new AVR as your equipment doesn't have HDMI 2.0.

These are going to be TN panels though. Getting an IPS 4K monitor in this size range is still going to set you back almost $4000 after taxes and shipping until HDMI 2.0 Seiki TVs start coming out.

When these things actually have the hdmi 2.0 inputs on the back, then I'll sit up at take notice. Until then, it's not really a consideration.

Why?confused.gif Go buy a TV then, but these are PC displays. All you need for 4k 60Hz support is Displayport 1.2 support.

Well, yeah, if they are really small monitors, and you'll only ever use it with PC's. There could be a future 4k blu ray player that might only have hdmi 2.0 output. I'm just saying, ideally, I'd love to have both displayport and the newest hdmi standard on the back.

Not that simple. For DisplayPort 1.2 displays, you need HBR2 or MST, neither of which are standard features in the 4K displays currently available. HBR2 is built into latest DP1.2 GPUs but it hasn't been implemented in monitors and MST doesn't fully work across the board in software, which is why Apple is having problems with it's new Mac Pro when connected to 4K displays as only two of them currently work with the OSX Mavericks.
