I have a full ATX MOBO and a full size GPU so I need a case that can fit those but still fit in my TV stand. The opening is 22" wide by 22" tall. I currently have an NZXT guardian case that sits beside the TV but it is making me crazy sitting there. I was looking at the Corsiar Air 540, I wanted to put it in sideways so the window would be facing out. The problem is that would only leave about an inch on the sides for airflow. Any suggestions on a case that will look good and fit my needs would be great. I have done a lot of searching but its hard to tell without seeing it in person. I am working with a budget of about $120. I could go up to $200 if needed but I want to buy a BDD.

Here is what I am working with.

The middle door would be removed.

I have been looking for a good horizontal case for my home theater pc. Just want a cleaner look instead of my pc sitting on the carpet next to my entertainment center.

I think I am stuck with either the 540 I mentioned previously and the CoolerMaster HAF XB Evo.

You should be ok with that much clearance regarding airflow.

How old is the machine and when might you upgrade it next? What's limiting your choices is the ATX mobo. If you step down to mATX your options open up immensely.

It is a couple years old, 3rd gen i5 and 600 series GPU. I want to make my next upgrade the GPU since the CPU/RAM are still more than enough for 99% of games. I was thinking an 880 next spring. Then a MOBO/CPU/RAM refresh in 2016 in time for DDR4 and True 8Core intel processors to be in the realm of affordability.

I mulled over dropping down to an itx/mATX board but I don't know if I can cover the mobo change and still get a decent case. I am selling a couple textbooks to cover the upgrade already...
Gaming on a budget...
