A pc that has the minimum that I need under 300.

I need to find a desktop that is already built that can run games like the total war series and elgato gaming recording for the ps4. All for under 300 dollars.

Hit the open box, demo, closeout and refurbish sections of Micro Center. Find the best spec'd model from a major brand, for the price you want. And don't look back...agonize about what you don't have...worry about upgrades...Power spec's & bench scores. Just play the games and enjoy what it gives you. You'll likely still be able to get a 1-2 year old model that will be ahead of the new consoles. Target one that has Windows 8.1 and can handle DX 11. Or nothing below DX 10.

DX 11 is the API for Windows 7 and 8. The function of the API is described on the link below. And you can research it more by Googling Direct X. I only mentioned it so that you would buy a PC model with a GPU/CPU or APU/MOBO combo that can handle content that support it. DX10 or 11 should be fine for the basic functionality you appear to be seeking. Just stay very basic at your price range. And stick with brands like Dell, Asus and HP. If you are a keen researcher on line you may be able to a model like HP-Pavillion 500-214 (refurbished) for $329.99 at Micro Center. That will do pretty much all you want without laboring you with the task of trying to understand the tech or its operational design. Visit microcenter.com website and shop their deals aggressively. Target closeouts, refurbs, demos in your price range and you will get more computer bang for your buck. For example: that HP model mentioned above is current available. And it has 8gb memory; AMD A8-6500 quad core APU; 2TB hard drive; And Windows 8.1. Don't worry about understanding all of that. Just plug it in. And throw whatever you want at it. I would recommend you let Micro Center Optimize it for speed and performance for you and eliminate all of the bloat ware that usually comes pre-loaded with Brand PCs. Or let the Geek Squad do it. It will be an investment that's well worth it. If you are unskilled at doing it yourself. Good Luck.

AMD A8 or A10 would probably be the closest fit to your requirements. Although you can build it for $300-$350 finding it pre-assembled is going to be a task.

Another option is an i5 with integrated graphics, and then once you have another $100 free buy a budget video card for it. The AMD A10 will perform better for gaming then then intel integrated graphics, but once you add a budget video card it'll be a big jump over the AMD model and the CPU will be less of a bottleneck for upgrades.

A system under $300 that can run total war? With a capture card, and at a quality you wouldn't be embarrassed recording?

I honestly don't think that's possible...unless you're talking about Rome total war 1.

I guess it depends on whether a capture card and an OS is part of that budget. And if you're ok with gameplay well under 30fps in anything past medieval 2.

Not everything has to be the top of the line. The bare minimum is fine. I'm not looking to run crisys or anything..

I think you're underestimating what it takes to run total war. Rome 2 is up there with crysis.

But either way it's hard to help you without knowing what needs to fit in that budget. At $300 whether you need a mouse with it is relevant.
