for those who haven't seen it, here's some screenshots
I found a few nice wallpapers
Yes, it does have some bugs and frankly, they shouldn't have shipped the game in this condition.
I have hardware that easily exceeds the recommended hardware for this game so there's ZERO excuse for me seeing the occasional crash to desktop or when you get into game and the frame rate goes to absolute pot and skipps and jutters like no one's business. The game is literally unplayable for about 20-30 second while that's going on. I've lost a few fights easily where I shouldn't have when it does that to me.
I think there's a memory leak happpening with this game, among other things.
It's a rushed product they put out. I love the game as a whole, but it needed a few more months' work.
I still think Freelancer is arguably a better game than this, in some respects. I'd love to see a sequel to that game.
This is a nice stopgap to hold me over. It needs another very robust, finalized patch or two. That beta 1.2 patch hasn't done jacksquat for it.
Here's the problem I'm having right now, and some other people can take this warning for what it's worth:
I also don't care for the fact that, right now, I'm stuck and can't continue in the storyline at all.
I'm about 4 galaxies ahead of where you start the game out, so I'm pretty deep into the storyline at this point.
Reason I'm stuck: (Spoiler free)
I am at a point in the game where I need to transport 4 containers to another area to move forward, but I only have three drones available to me.
So I'm screwed. The game's over for me.
I can't get any more artifiacts or anything else to upgrade my ship. I literally can't fly anywhere else because I have to complete this very mission to open up more keys to fly to more places so I can more artifacts and the rest of it.
There's literally no way to do it for me, as is. I can't move forward, and I can't go backwards because I've collected every artifact I possibly can and my ship is as maxed out as I possibly can do for the time being.
I guess I'm done with the game unless a cheat code or some other crack/hack comes out.
The game boasts that you can configure your ship any way you want. I've used the artificact upgrades in a fairly even handed manner. I think I'm +3 on all parts of the ship right now.
But somehow, I'm screwed on a little detail like that.
These are the kinds of bugs and "brick walls" that good debuggers and beta testers simply should have uncovered.
This is unacceptable. This is bad game design. There's no way something like this should happen. Up until this stupid brick wall, I was kicking ass, making money, and getting the job done well in every respect.
This kind of thing is a critical game flaw that just shouldn't be.
This is not a finished, polished product that got put out.
