Gamespot has posted some potential news for BF3. Read the article, it's from a .pdf file supposedly for investors only. The main points are:

- Set in modern-day time, similiar to BF2 - YES!
- Supposedly NO support for Win XP; only Vista and Mac OS X
- Support for up to 40 players per team on eight different maps
- 24 different vehicles and 17 different weapons
- Release date of late 2008, which makes the no XP version rumor believable

Read here: http://www.gamespot.com/news/show_bl...ic_id=25970699

I'm glad to finally see some news about this.

Matt

This sounds like the PC version of Battlefield: Bad Company, which is for PS3/X360. This game has some trailers out and is looking very, very good.

Doesn't matter how good it looks now...Based on the first two in the series, it will still be very, very broken when it's released so we can pay 50$ to beta test it for EA.

I say this only marginally jokingly!

Agreed, DICE games are always initially buggy. The fact that people are will the put up with this a credit to how fun the Battlefield series is.

8 maps? This game will suck with that little variation in the maps no matter how large they are..and if the max size is 20 on 20, they probably aren't that large.

Well I think BF2 shipped with around 8 maps as well. And it's 40 vs. 40, max of 80, which is up from the current max of 32 vs. 32. More maps will be released after launch, I would imagine.

Oh, I misread....thought it was 20 on 20 max.

The problem with 8 maps is that there are inevitably a few stinkers, and the other ones will be heavily rotated through and, because its only capture-the-point style of gameplay, it then becomes kinda repetitious over and over.

I always felt that BF2 would have been a truly TRULY great game if only they'd had more than that one style of game-mode.
