Bought my Sony BDPS550 the same week The Dark Knight came out on BluRay. Using it with my DVDO Edge for HDMI and analog outs for sound. Like the high resolution audio.

PS3 - 60G unit in mid-December 2006.... was struggling between HD DVD or BD? The fact that HD DVD only had a single exclusive studio at the time and BD had Fox, Disney and Sony finally swayed me. Everytime I thought I might purchase into HD DVD I kept coming back to the fact HD DVD only had Universal exclusive at the time. I did not want to help prolong the war by supporting both. Glad I was able to exercise some self control.

I can wait a couple more years to see if Blu (HDM on disc) still has legs and if it does hopefully prices will be more in tune with what DVD software and hardware prices are today.

There is nothing compelling enough out now to get me to invest the high prices Blu wants right now.

First bought HD dvd player Feb 2008. It gave me error messages on first day and would not play two movies in a row. Returned it the next day and bought a PS3 when format war leaned towards bluray a month later. Biggest land mine I side stepped in 2008. lol.

November 2008 when I got the Panasonic BD-35 for $150. That was my maximum price limit so I got lucky when the Panny went on sale for one day at Sears. I got my HD-DVD for $99 in Nov 2007 so I set my Blu Ray limit at $150 a year later.

Picked up my Sony 350 yesterday, didn't need all the bells and whistles of the 550 because I'm connecting to my Yami RX-V 3800.

Samsung BD-UP5000 in November 2007...tired of the wishy-washy support. The new Oppo is looking compelling.

it was in 1947 after the crash at Roswell. The crash had smashed my theater system on board, so i had to make do with building the player with the crap resources here on earth

Bought my Sony BDP-S360 in April 2009. Now I'm thinking of putting it in the bedroom where my 32" Sony is and buying the Oppo BDP-83 for the 40' XBR7 in the living room.

BTW, I've been very happy so far with the S360.

BDP-S1 the weekend after Thanksgiving 2006. Frickin' expensive, but hey I got a free copy of the non-remastered Fifth Element!

I got a PS3 80 GB for 2009 fathers day from my wife and kids. Way better than a tie. In some ways it appears it would have been better to wait until fall 2009 as the players available seem to be better. Haven't really seen that many blu-ray movies yet. The one I have seen make me wish I had upgraded earlier.
