In what year did you purchase your First Blu-ray Player? Please vote only after you have purchased your player or received one as a gift.

Share your hobby and post which player (or players as you upgrade) that you chose.

I bought a PS 3 in April 2008 to go along with a Toshiba 52XF550.

I am very happy with the format and have had no problems with the hardware or software. In fact I don't know if it's the Great TV or I have bad eyes, but two of the lowest rated Blu movies, (Bram Stoker's Dracula and House of Flying Daggers) look very good to me. At this time I am using the TV's speakers so I am not taking full advantage of the great sound qualities of the format.

Enjoy your movies.

Free Sharp BD-HP20U around February 2008. Very happy with it. In fact, I like it even more than my Toshiba HD-A35.

Since then have purchased several PS3's and sold all of them. Will pick up another one when they put out a cool, large capacity unit with quiet fans & B.C.

Purchased my Samsung 1400 in Feb. 2008 as it was the cheapest option into the format at the time. I haven't had much trouble with it, one time Pirates 3 failed to load but works now. And AVP Requiem has the seamless branching problems (I still feel it may be a disc problem). Otherwise it works well for me. The fact that it can bitstream the new audio codecs is good too.

Bought a Samsung 5K in Dec, but it didn't arrive until Jan. Tossed it back about 3 weeks later and bought a 40Gb PS3.

Seggers

Mits 73835, Denon X4000, Emotiva UPA5 (triggered), Wharfedale Pacific Evo 40s, CS, 10s, the internet, a NAS drive, a TiVo Series 3 and an Oppo 103 (bye bye PS3). There's also a Wii, but we don't talk about that...

60Gb PS3 about two months ago, then bought a 40Gb about three weeks ago and sold the 60Gb on Ebay.

I still have an HD-XA2, but I'm using it for upconverting SD-DVDs.

A "BD Player" 2006, upon release of the Samsung 1k. But a year or two before, did briefly own a Panasonic BD-RE deck. Got a Sony S1 when released, and just bought a PS3 recently to play MGS4.

Purchased a PS3 in the Fall of '07 for the release of Halloween on BD. I had already owned an HD DVD player for several months and continue to prefer the now defunct format, but the PS3 has been a very reliable unit.
