Thanks BobearQSI. As long as I can watch DVD and Blu ray via component from the OPPO, that's all I need to know. It doesn't have to upconvert, just play. I'll save the HDMI out for my projector and get a receiver with HDMI switching down the road a bit.

Will this unit play PAL discs on an NTSC system like the 970? I have some Genesis SACD discs from the UK, which have PAL video extras. Actually I have a Roxy Music DVD with PAL too. I do not think these discs have any kind of region lock.

Yes, provided they are region 1 or all region (9 or 0)due to BDA licencing arangements.
