35/55 owners, is there a confirmation display of what format is being output from the 7.1 analog outs? When I watch Golden Compass I can see the signal DTS HD-MA is being sent from the disc but want to make sure its being sent from the outputs also.

I hooked up the 35 last night to my Integra DTC-9.8 and tried out two BD movies: Iron Man and Forbidden Kingdom. Iron Man's audio was Dolby TrueHD @ 48kHz and Forbidden Kingdom's DTS-Master Audio was @ 48 also. I presumed that the DTS-MA was going to be higher, like 96kHz. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this normal?

Do you have the down conversion set to off?

Since the manuals are still not posted online, it would be great if someone could scan and post a few pages here. I'd love to see the pages with the audio settings and speaker setups for analog output. Thanks.

Check the specs on the discs. Movies are mastered at 48kHz. Some concerts may be 96kHz. But, that's about it.

FedEx just delivered my BD35 and I've got it plugged up. Everything seems to be in order and I'm happy to see that it's successfully sending 7.1 discrete audio via HDMI into my Denon 3806. I upgraded the receiver firmware earlier this week to allow for that. All I had time to do was load up Dark City and watch the first 15 minutes or so. The DTS-MA sounds amazing.

Network setup via ethernet worked fine -- player reports that it has the latest firmware. (no big shock there)

I'm looking at the DMP-BD55 due to my receiver not having HDMI inputs and the BD55 having analog outputs. My only question is will the audio be in loseless format when its decoded by the player and sent to the receiver or is that possible only via HDMI?

I went to Circuit City and returned the BD-2500 for the BD-35. I purchased the Samsung for 340.00 total, because I used the 40off coupon. So when I returned it to a different CC they told me they could not give me back the money because they are on the old system but, what they can do is give me a gift card to purchase the BD-35. I said ok go for it, so she rang up the Samsung for 385.00 total. She gave me a gift card for 385.00 and I used the 40 off coupon again on the BD-35 and the total rang up to around 284 dollars. Keep in mind they gave me 45.00 extra for the Samsung and I used a 40 off coupon which is a total of 85.00 off of the BD35k. So basically the Panasonic BD-35k cost me 199 dollars and Disney has a promotion buy the BD-35 and get Ratatouille and The nightmare before Christmas for free. That would bring my total to around 170.00 for the Panasonic BD35k!

I picked up a BD55 at CC last night and it seems fairly noisy while playing a disc. It seems to be a transport type whirring noise that is constant and very audible from my seating area about 10' away from the player. I haven't seen anybody else mention this yet an am wondering if it is just my player. I think I'll take it back and exchange it tonight.

Panasonic DMP-BD55 (DMP-BD55K) Blu-ray Player: Review By Chris Boylan

Thank you Larry I actually just found this article this morning and was planning on posting it but you beat me to it.

Now first I will post the screen shot of the speaker setup menu.

As shown Panasonic has decided to use a completely odd way of implementing the delays.

First problem is there are no adjustments for the Front L & R speakers. Next huge problem is that is appears there is only ONE adjustment for both the right and left surrounds (as well as surround backs). Of course instead of using length measurements you have to refer to a conversion chart to be able to use the tenth of a millisecond reductions they provide. If I am wrong and there is a way to adjust the R & L Surround independently, please let me know. I am going off the chart and how it appears.

The menu looks identical to what is shown in the DMP-BD50 manual so I am assuming the setup is the same. Can someone please go into their settings and see if there is a way to highlight the L surround and set a delay setting and then go to the R surround and have a different setting. If someone could clear this up I would really appreciate it.

I have not heard a whisper from my BD35. I'll try putting my ear to it tonight.

Can someone please comment further about HD-DTS Master Audio not being flagged correctly. I want everything decoded by my Denon 3808, and I also want it to properly display the audio "DTS Master Audio", etc.

Thanks.

Decoding lossless formats to analog is why some of us bought the BD55.

I picked up a BD55 from a local CC (1965 Broadway/Lincoln Center) about 30 minutes ago.

I'll post impressions later.

The only disc I am aware of that is incorrectly flagged is Die Hard 2. My Denon receiver has displayed DTS-HD MA on all other discs containing this codec that I have played.

Yes I just tried Die Hard 2 and I get no audio at all with DTS HD. Why cant they get this resolved? Samsung got it right, I used to own the UP5000 and it worked with Die Hard. Has this issue been resolved with the BD30?

I am able to get the DTS-MA audio on my BD30 (the display on my Onk 605 says "DTS-HR" when playing that track but we have been assured by an industry insider that this is simply the flag issue and that the DTS-MA track is actually being played).

That's why you need that internal fan to mask the transport noise.

Next we'll have folks trying to figure out a way to INCREASE their fan speed.

Will it ever end.

Just kidding mostly. Hope this is an isolated problem and yours gets fixed.
