Pioneer showed its super multi-layer read-only optical disc, with a total capacity of 400GB at the IT Month fair in Taipei. This amount is huge compared to 25 GB single layer Blu-ray discs.

The technology of the super multi-layer read-only disc is based on Blu-ray Disc, with a breakthrough in material of reflective layers. In the near future 1 TB will be possible with this technology.

Now that's a fine piece of technology. The cute Pioneer girl in the picture, that is. What's that she is holding?

Soon, everything will be on a single disc; gone will be the multi-disc blu ray editions of movies.

I think it would be awesome to have all extended edition of LOTR movies spiced together into 1 long movie. All the extras could also fit on the same disc in HD. If it was $100 or less, I would buy it.

Planet of the Apes (1968) quote:

George Taylor (human): Doctor, I'd like to kiss you goodbye.
Dr. Zira (ape): All right, but you're so damned ugly.

Better put a couple of intermission in that version or you will feel the power of that large softdrink
