Both players were in the same rack, with the same bluray movies playing at the same chapters during my A/B comparison, but this was on a 12' wide screen. The fact that your tv is relatively small at 60", I would lean to the Oppo as differences become more subtle at that size.

In addition, there is merit to the fact that it's an old player that is expensive to fix. If I couldn't get an extended warranty on the 09 for a decent price that would cover the entire player purchase price if parts become unavailable and/or the cost to repair it, the purchase would be quite risky. The Oppo also has an excellent remote with very good streaming capabilities, which I prefer using over gaming consoles for streaming apps.

the price on the new 09fd is $1000 so more in line with the 105/105d oppo's

i am not too concerned with streaming as i have an xbox one/ps4 so that takes care of netflix

i just want the best possible video quality and blu ray playback!!
Either player will satisfy this requirement and since you are placing such a premium on Blu-ray playback I would take both the BDP-105/105D and the 09FD out of the equations and look at either the BDP-103 or 103D. You could probably set your sights a little lower in price achieve your main objective.

Just one man's opinion.

It seems if you delete any custom name, you get the generic one, based apparently on number of posts.

Assuming you didn't click something unknowingly, then it's another one of those unexplained electronic glitches that occur for no obvious reason. You could always put your handle back in if you want. "Danger Seeker" had a nice, secret agent vibe to it.

I have both players in my theater rack so I obviously like them both.

I use the Oppo 103 as my everyday player as it is solid, performs well and is reliable. The 09 is reserved for my favorite movies and blockbusters as I always have an eye on the bluray drive.
I have a similar arrangement, except I have a BDP-83 and its audio is connected to the TV through my Duo VP; the 09's audio goes direct to my stereo. A video comparison done a while back showed both players to be good, but the 09's color was a bit richer to my eyes. Detail was pretty much the same. The Oppo is for quickie or "regular" stuff that doesn't necessarily warrant turning on the full system.
