I tried this and the problem with the disk persisted. It will not play Wolverine. My persistent memory is empty.

Oppo is aware of the problem with this disk and is working on a firmware rev to address it.

For what source would you need video processing in the AVR? Denon doesn't process anything coming through HDMI either. Your Pioneer panel would be very capable of processing something like a VCR or video camera, and the Oppo has just about the best upconversion for standard def DVD already built into it.

Until then people are getting it to work if they do things in the right order. Try the steps shown here: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showp...ostcount=22092

Neuromancer, please edit the first post to include step by step instructions on how to get X-Men Origins: Wolverine to play.
The inquiries about the problem are getting very monotonous.
Would be easier to just link to the first post if possible.

Contact the source from which you ordered the player to obtain a disc... or contact OppoDigital directly.

FedEx, unlike UPS, does not perform phantom scans. This means that the tracking information does not get updated until the package is physically scanned. With FedEx they have one of their main distribution depots in Reno. However, scan updates do not always show up on the online tracking (this has happened to me several times in the past).

If you live on the East Coast, you will likely not see another tracking update for another 2 to 3 days, as your package needs to be scanned again when it arrives at the new distribution depot. Delivery will then be another day or two, depending on your location.

Total transit time, from West Coast to East Coast, will be 5 business days, starting with the day after the player originally shipped.

If you bought from OnlyBestRated.com or SolutionsAV.ca then you will want to contact them and inquire about the AIX disc. They should have received/will receive AIX discs. Only ping OPPO if you bought direct from them.

Improbable, but in such a case, ask OPPO for their special firmware which was designed explicitly to fix Wolverine.

Well I don't have a blu ray player yet, but when I do, I'll be inclined to return to the store any blu ray that will not play and just get the dvd. That is one reason I'm getting the Oppo, great DVD playback. If enough people get fed up and return fidgety blu rays perhaps the studios will get the message and start actually following the standard in a more uniform manner.

Yes, it does so also on my player. When "1080p" is selected (but not made effective) 1080p shows in the display. As soon as it is selected "1080i60" comes up instead.

I agree it might be a firmware issue (using the 905 beta), as the signal which is output when actually selecting 1080i is different from 1080p.

Again, I am doing this solely in an attempt to come to the bottom of a strange error that I am seeing with my Octava Cat5e-to-HDMI extender (intermittent white flashes every 10-15 minutes lasting approx. 1/4 sec.)

I was thinking it could be either bandwidth-related or some incompatibility between the output signal and the extenders. It could obviously be some problem with the extenders themselves; or the receiving monitor used for testing. I have seen this problem on other Cat5 extenders also (where it occurred much more frequently.)

I see 1080p60 when the selection is made.

Do you have Primary Output = Component? That will give you 1080i when you select 1080p. The reasons are shown in the FAQ.

anyone have any issues with Elton John Yellowbrick Road SACD? I saw a few tidbits about former DVD-A issues, but I wanted to see if anyone else was having dropouts of any kind.

honestly, this is the first SACD in my collection to have issues. and while the disc is not perfect (some really light scuffs), the surface is not even close to as hashed as one of my Beck Sea Change SACDs. Just wondering if I should start considering buying a new disc. All other SACDs I own play flawlessly. Unfortunately, I don't have another SACD player to test off of now. I'm on 0905.

No problems here with Elton John "Yellowbrick Road" SACD using 0905.

Dropouts might be an HDMI handshake issue. If you're using DSD out over HDMI, switch to PCM and try it again.

Apparently enough when Smarty-pants, the king of random posting, is requesting that I update the First Post to contain information about Wolverine.

Personally, I just keep a Notebook.txt open and copy and paste.

I own a copy of the "Yellow Brick Road" SACD. I purchased it maybe a year ago. Have'nt experienced any playback issues what-so-ever. Matter of fact all the Elton John SACD's have played flawless in my experiences. I listen via-analog OUT's.

I would consider ordering a new copy. Seems I've noticed this title around a few places not long back (even Best Buy and Fry's- here in the Los Angeles area).

The 4810 (drool) is very capable indeed for both vid and audio, but lists for $3K. If you have not been to this thread, it might be a good spot to repost your question if you'd like expert feedback on Denon models and their respective capabilities:
