I hear this. 10-20% of BR disks (Netflix, mostly) in my Samsung 5000 seize up. Some few have been unrecoverable, others I can eventually skip the offending chapter(s). (I clean every disk.) I don't dare have company over for a movie. I'm buying the Oppo in hopes of restoring reliability without sacrificing the good DVD upscaling.
I thought I was being so clever with the dual-mode Samsung (BR and HD), then two weeks after I got it HD was dead along with Samsung support. I've given up fighting with it.
I keep putting the DVD-only Netflix selections to the top of my queue. The remaining list is getting pretty BR-heavy, so I need this player soon!
