I never upgraded the firmware because I saw all of the problems everyone is having posted here on these forums. Since I never had a problem with a disc because of outdated firmware, I never bothered to upgrade it. I did Netflix once, but once I found out that they don't have closed captions I cancelled it and took the wireless dongle back and got my $80 back. :-)
I know that picture quality is supposed to improve with firmware upgrades, but once I started seeing people posting A/V sync issues with firmware I pretty much decided not to upgrade until there is a version that is bug free and everyone here is happy with the latest version of firmware.

I have it set to Bitstream (Audiophile). Watchmen played flawlessly on Blu-Ray.
Edit: I don't know if it matters, but I am running Atlona 26AWG 1.3b HDMI cables to/from all of my HDMI inputs/outputs. I know a lot of people say cables don't matter but I did seem to notice some oddities from my cable box when it was connected with a Radio Shack 1.3a HDMI cable.
Unbelievably, the cable from Radio Shack costed more than the Atlona. So, once I got the Atlonas in the mail that I ordered from Wal-Mart's website, I took the cable back to Radio Shack and got my $42 back.
