Picked up the 360 last Sunday on sale. I have about 20 hours on the unit this week and it is performing with no issues. It seems to be a very good entry level player. This is my first Bluray but I've had a Tosh-A2 for over a year so I did have baseline expectations.

PoorSignal - Yes, it does decode both and pass them as PCM to an HDMI receiver. I have a Yamaha RX-V1600. I too was waiting for a PS3, but decided to jump on this unit. I'm not sure why bitstreaming would be better. The end result should be the same. Unless there is additional processing that your receiver can do that you like, but decoding handled by the player or receiver should be equal.

this is on sale at costco...
http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product...S&Sp=C&topnav=

I have a lot of SD dvds that we'll still be watching so the BD60 may be a better way to go since the upconversion is better.

I've read *some* of the comments in this thread, but in a nutshell, how does this model compare to the BD60 (which is $50 less than s360 model at Costco).

I had the Panasonic BD60 but returned it because the Blu-Ray Movies kept freezing. I decided to pick up the Sony-360 and believe it or not I found the Up-conversion much better on the Sony. the colors and the over all picture quality are much better in my opinion.

I'm about ready to cancel my Sony order and place one for a Panasonic model to go with the Panasonic plasma television I just purchased. Sony is doing a good job of running me away from their products permanently.

I canceled mine when it was pushed the first time. I've got a PS3 and can wait until this one releases, plus I figure by December with all the Christmas sales and the economy in the tank these might be had for a lot less than $350. Heck, you can get a pre-order at Mac Mall for less than $300 already...

Just cancelled my Sony BDP-S560 order, as there is no reason at this time to believe the model will be released mid-August. My formerly Sony-branded home entertainment system is quickly being disassembled.

I just ordered the Sony S360 today on Amazon.com for only $235 with 2 day free shipping! It saves me $65 dollars from buying it in stores which is $300 dollars, I can't wait to get it but I don't have a TV yet but I am going to try it out on my Father's 46 inch TV soon!

Just purchased this player and was wondering what brand USB disk everyone was using to make sure i get one that works with the player. I know 2.0 is a must but which ones are recommended and which should I avoid?

...I purchased a Sony 2GB stick at Fry's for $15.00. Its slim so it will fit into slot but I'm sure almost any brand would do fine. Grats on the player, I love mine!

Finally got some relief for my poor over-used 60GB PS3.

Hey Guys,

I haven't posted in awhile. Need a bit of advice regarding a Blu-Ray Player. My wife of all people wants a Blu-ray player for our bedroom. Our collection is growing and I guess she wants the option to watch movies in the bedroom and not just the living room. This is a rare occasion where she wants some electronic doodad and not me. Haha!

Our current Blu-Ray Player is the Sony S350, which I like just fine. I'm wondering if it would be worth it to update that player to a S360 and then move the 350 into the bedroom? I'm not sure if the 360 offers me anything I need though. I already have a Next gen Audio receiver so I wont use the players decoding, the S350 is already Profile 2.0 so...I dunno. Not sure weather to get a 360, or perhaps just get a "lesser" cheaper player and throw it in the bedroom. We only have a 32 inch 1080i TV in there, no surround at all, just the TV's speakers.

I could also just get the S360 and put it in the bedroom instead of swapping them.

For anyone who has a 350, could you give me a comparison?

Any input appreciated. Thanks!

Are you trying to hint at something, fafner? =)

Not getting a Sony player.... Hmm I don't know if I could handle that. I always liked thier Blu-ray players. They invented it...you'd think they'd be good at it.

Does the player fast forward/rewind smoothly? The s350 doesn't and that always bothered me. Maybe it's just somethng all players of this price range do? I'd love if this one could scan/rewind more smoothly. The s350 jumps when doing it.

You would think so but current evidence is that they have fallen behind others. I moved up to the JVC from a Sony 350 and could not be happier. Faster and outstanding PQ and SQ, at least as good as the Sony.

So I went to the Best Buy where I live to check out the players. I was either going to get a S360 or a lesser more basic model for our bedroom.

But then when I get there, a new option is added to the mix. They have a floor model of the S350 for $200. Missing parts (the remote, which I don't need.) So I sit there staring at it for a moment and the sales guy walks by. Even though I am 99.9 % sure I'm wasting my breath I ask "could I possibly get this for even lower?" He says hold on and goes to ask the Manager. Comes back 10 seconds later and says "$150?"

Sold!

So no new model player for me, but I got a quality player for the bedroom at a low price, just like i wanted. =) S360 next time maybe...or whatever is out when I actually need a player again.

So I just bought an open box BDP-BX2 from Sam's Club, but it didn't come with a remote, does anyone know the model number of the one that comes in the box? Also I found one site that sells decently priced OEM remotes, but does anyone else know of a good site to buy one?

Yes, thanks. I did mean to come back to the thread to make a note of that.

After reviewing the technical specs and owners manual, which are also now finally available, I've determined that the HTS-S360 + BDP-S360 is a better choice for me. It gives me a potential of four HDMI inputs (including a second HDMI input port on my television).

From the SonyStyle website:

Quote:

The ethernet port lets you connect the BDP-S360 to your home's existing broadband network to access bonus features on BD-Live enabled Blu-ray Disc movies.

Determining if running the cable for it is worth it, is up to you.

Hi all, can you point me to key differences between the S360 and S560. Also, I only have a 720p TV, we'll I still be able to get 720p picture from these players to the TV via component connection? thanks
