This isn't just a harmony issue - as far as I know it's an issue with the 3600. I find it incredible that a consumer electronics company as large as Samsung could possibly produce a player with only toggle on/off and no discrete on/off codes, but that seems to be what has happened. Nobody (as far as I know) has found a discrete code for this unit yet.

It drives me crazy. I have programmed power on to be "PLAY-STOP" and power off to be "PLAY-POWER". That's a reasonable work around, but it's far from ideal.

Discrete codes and a more sensible pause would be my top two requests for future firmware upgrades. But I'm not holding my breath on either one.

Thanks Toolkit,
I thought I was the only one with this Harmony problem of toggle on/off. I'll try your work around.

Hello!

I watched Alien and Aliens last night (brand new Blu-ray release) and had some fun audio sync problems. While watching the movie, the audio AND video would appear to skip for a second, and then the audio would be out of sync by about 2 seconds with the video. Pressing pause and then pressing play seems to fix it.

This happened for me running 2.07 with Iron Man 2. After upgrading to 2.12, Iron Man 2 played perfectly.

Does anyone else have this problem with this player and Alien or Aliens?

Here is my configuration:
BD-P3600 > *HDMI* > Pioneer Elite VSX-21TXH > *HDMI* > Samsung UN55B7100 55" LED

The audio on the player is set to Bitstream (Audiophile).

Thanks!
Tony

This is the one glitch I have observed on certain titles, but it only seems to happen on bitstream audio out of the player. When I use PCM, any problem titles play just fine.....

The good folks at Samsung told me the 3600 can't be upgraded to run the new app suite. I asked about a firmware/software upgrade. Not possible the tech said.... "the firmware in that player can't be upgraded." Well, we all know that's not true. I think Samsung is trying to force those of us with older machines to buy the 2010 models if we want the new apps. Just a thought!

Had the same issue with one of the Alien movies (I think Aliens), but I paused it for a second and then it was back to normal.

Samsung seems to have dropped firmware support for my 3 BD- P3600 players. The players will not play blu ray discs properly without firmware updates. I will not let Samsung's decision be hidden in the AVS forum . When you , or your friends , consider buying anything with the Samsung logo , please remember that Samsung will not stand behind their product no matter what is said or printed.

New support site for 3600 is here. If it is down when you check, keep checking, as it is up and down randomly.

I my 3600 is version 07 (XAC)
- capable reading some mkv,mp3,jpg from pc shared folder
- capable viewing video on youtube
- read dvd ( some fail I think it is pal format problem)
- read blu ray (avatar, batman, planet 51 and some others Ok )

overall it is not a so bad unit to me...

i'm realy scare about the upadate process to 1.12 even more that I don't know what will be add or lost...

I would like to have the possibility to try netflix

is my XAC unit can be updated with the XAA upadate (to try netflix )

I think that netflix have more to win to try help us geeting a update for the XAC like the Xaa with netflix include.

Well, I don't have any exact answers to your questions but I'll try and shed some light. If you are running 2.07 you should be able to view netflix now, no further update necessary for that. A lot of people (myself included) have been staying with version 2.07 since it has been completely problem free until recently. Some audio and screen freeze issues with titles like Iron Man 2, Prince of Persia, and the new Aliens blu ray release. I can't recall any issues that have come up with 2.12 yet.

I think most here would tell you that if you don't have any nagging issues with your current firmware just stay with the one you have and don't update. Time has shown that having the latest (and ?greatest?) firmware does not lead to the best functioning of the 3600.

Pascal,
The XAC canadian version will not upgrade with US firmware. This has been tried by a number of other forum members previously.

Hi, thank for reading and for trying help me
for the US upgrade... it is so bad that we can't use it in the XAC model. I have had different device that run with japanese firmware and other when it's needed.

My wish now is to know if we are anough owning this ''north america unit without netflix even if the are covering the north america now'' to have the weight to make people at samsung releasing a firmware with this famous button beside the youtube one at the welcome screen.

I think, we could then write a letter to samsung and copy netflix and make it available for us too ...

Sorry for the s/w: I'm running BEv2.07_xxx_XAC not 1.07 like I wrote before

After I posted my rant on the Samsung support chat line , the 2.12 firmware popped up on all 3 of my 3600 units located in 2 states , while I was typing responses to the support rep. A coincidence , I don't think so.

Try copying avi file onto a USB stick and see how that plays for you.

Called Samsung Canada today and asked about Netflix support for the p3600. The CS rep told me that there will be a firmware update coming out that will enable Netflix for the 3600! Finally some good news. I also own the p1500 which will never get it. Now at least I have one BD player that will stream Netflix movies along with the xbox 360.

So a friend of mines is moving overseas and decided to sell his 3600 to me for $50 complete with the samsung usb wifi dongle.
He told me it just needed an update because it isn't reading some bluray discs. I thought to myself $50 it's a deal, just have to update the fw.

So upgraded the fw from 2.09 to 2.12 and i get the "cant read disc error". Plays dvds and cds fine but none of my blurays work. I have the bd live on 'prohibit' and still a no go.

Is this a hardware fault or fw? Hopefully Samsung CS can help when I call them.

Thanks!
Tony
I have this exact issue also with my BD-P3600! I am connected via HDMI to an Onkyo TX-NR807 with audio set to "Bitstream (audiophile)." On 2.07 Iron Man 2 would skip near the beginning (right after he jumps out of the plane) and then I would have lip sync issues after that. If I pause and then play, lip sync is fixed. Also had the same problem on sherlock holmes.

2.12 has fixed those titles for me, however Toy story 3 and Prince of Persia have issues. Prince of persia is particularly bad. Not only do I get an audio/video skip, but the scene selection dialogue pops up and immediately after it disappears the movie playback skips back a few minutes and plays the scene over. It happens in the scene when Jake Gyllenhaal is climbing the wall.

Is this just a samsung issue? I am seriously considering a new blu ray player...

Well...After over an HOUR on processing!!! I Had to abort! (Wifey ready to watch Lost Bluray) Unplugged 3600 and counted down 30...then powered up. Netflix works ok...will start up bluray shortly and see...(note: when powered up...it asked me to agree to all the disclaimers as usual after upgrade...there still is hope!)

I have Samsung BD-3600 XEE with FW 2.12 and i can play all the DVD/BD movies you all talking about in here with this FW, want to say that i live in Sweden and the movies is region 2/B.
Can play any type of media files that i have on my USB HDD 1,5 TB so i am happy with my Bd-3600 with FW 2.12.

I was watching a bluray on my BD-P3600 last night and when powering off got the message an upgrade to firmware was available. I downloaded firmware ver. 2.12 today for installing via USB this evening when I get home. I see a couple of reports of issues here; does anyone know if there are widespread problems with this firmware update, or what the update is intended to address?

He told me it just needed an update because it isn't reading some bluray discs. I thought to myself $50 it's a deal, just have to update the fw.

So upgraded the fw from 2.09 to 2.12 and i get the "cant read disc error". Plays dvds and cds fine but none of my blurays work. I have the bd live on 'prohibit' and still a no go.

Is this a hardware fault or fw? Hopefully Samsung CS can help when I call them.

Sounds like hardware issue to me.

I've been running v2.12 since release with no major issues.

From the time that 2.07 first became available I have not had netflix drop or freeze even 1 time in the probable 100+ hrs. of netflix streaming we have done since. If you can make the jump to 2.07 I think a lot of people would say that would be the best move. You'll have to find someone to who saved a copy if you want to go that route.

As far as slow load times, the 3600 is just about the fastest loader of all time, do you have bd-live deactivated? If running this can really slow things down.

I've been having the freezing issue with Netflix for the last month (I've had the unit for about a year). The unit came with 2.05, and still has that version. When I went to update the firmware, it offered to take it to 2.07. So it looks like it has to go through each version to update. This means you should not need to find someone with an old copy of the firmware, just let your player update to 2.07 and stop.

I've never had a problem with an actual blu-ray disk, only netlflix. I may have had some "slow-to-load" but I don't notice much and don't care as long as it plays. I'm usually still getting ready to watch...
